Another low blue start - which we love. She did well last night with 7% at +1 and a tbsp of what she had for dinner at +2, so I'm trying out 7% at +1 and +2 this morning, and leaving a bit of 7% out just in case. And I'll be home at +4 to test her.

So, her feeding schedule is depending on her preshot. If she's above 150, then she gets fed at preshot, +1, +1.5, +2 and then as needed. If she's below 150, she gets fed at preshot, +1, +2, and then as needed. She's only recently started to have a lot more below 150 preshot tests, so there have more instances of not feeding that +1.5. And boy howdy is she displeased with that decision. She'll come find me around 7:20 (+1.5 is at 7:30), and just lay near me and quietly (at first) mrrrr. And it gets progressively louder and more frequent, and the stares get more intense.
Most of the time I just move her breakfast/dinner bowl closer to her because she hasn't finished it (she rarely does in one go) and she'll eat a little of that and be fine. Is that bowl literally a foot and a half from her cute little face? Yes. Could she stand up and move over to it and satiate her starving self (because of course she's never been fed in her life )? Also yes. Am I still required to move it because gosh dang it she NEEDS (:rolleyes::rolleyes:) that +1.5 snack. Still yes.
The girl is feisty and will aggressively mrrrr and stare until she gets what she wants (I don't give in ALL the time :joyful:).

Haha, Kit cat is pulling a power move. Bell isn’t a vocal cat, but when she is hungry she gets inches from my face and just stares at me and yawns. It is not easily ignored. She can go a long time without blinking.

Just a question to learn myself, is the reason you withhold the +1.5 when she is lower because you want to make sure she remains hungry later in the cycle? So if she gets into trouble with lower numbers, you know she’ll eat?

Hello Alicia and Kit!

A very nice start. Hopefully she surfs nicely and safely while you're gone teaching.

Happy Wednesday

Hahahahaha, I love it. Smarty pants knows exactly when you should wait on her. How dare you trying to even think about skipping! Mrrrrr!
Maybe to have a placebo snack? A piece of freeze dry something? Gotta appease your Highness! :joyful::joyful::joyful:

So, I feed at 1.5 when she's higher because it usually helps keep her from a steep drop at +2. It took a lot of experimenting with times and different food percentages to get what mostly works (sometimes she's just gonna drop hard and there's not much I can do). But she was dropping steep and fast, and it would cause big bounces, and then she'd get in a cycle of bounce drop that was hard to break out of. If I know I'm not feeding her at +1.5, I might try to coax her to eat more of her breakfast earlier, or she might nom more on her breakfast around that time, but I'm withholding the 9% I would feed at +1.5.

Ooo, a placebo snack is a good idea.
And it's like she knows that if she just keeps doing the little mrrr and increasing in volume and how often that it will just dig into my brain and drive me crazy. It's a good thing she's so cute. :joyful::joyful:

Thank you! That is super helpful. Bhooma gave me some similar advice yesterday - to try feeding Bell at PS, +1, +2 (I usually just do PS and +2). Bell is bouncing again and I could tell last night she was almost frantic for food, even though she still was above 50. I was thinking the bounces were just due to the low numbers but if they could also be triggered by the rate of the drop, that would explain some things. Much appreciated!

For sure! I had lots of guidance in trying to figure out when to feed to slow the drop, so I'm always happy to share suggestions. Just remember you have to try a specific thing for a bit of time to see if it works - it's not likely to be an immediate thing. I would sometimes try something for a couple of weeks to see if it was really working or not. Kit's specific feeding is 7% at +1 and 9% a +1.5, which always feels counterintuitive, but she just needs that higher carb boost at those times to work the cycle best. She of course loves it because the 9% is probably her favorite food, so the more often she can get it is amazing to her.
