We didn't get online to post last night as he was not eating and I tried to give him fluids again. At 5:35 last night I tested him (that would be about 11 1/2 hours after amps) and he was 237. At 6pm I gave him his 4 units. He ate about 1 tablespoon of Innova cat & kitten. He had small to moderate ketones, so I gave him about 50 ml fluids (he didn't cooperate as promised). he feels like he's on a rollercoaster and his tummy hurts. This morning he was 228 at 6am and again ate about 1 TBL of innova and I give him about 75ml of fluids. He is spending the day at the vet, as gotten another pain shot, his white blood cell count is elevated, but part of that is probably where he is. he's getting an antibiotic and they are going to give him cerenia (I don't htink he swalloed the 1/2 tablet of it that I gave him last night). He will come home with me tonight but the catheter will stay in just in case he needs to go to the hospital, but he will be going back to the vet tomorrow.

Does he like Pill Pockets? Pieces of the green pea and duck, dog-sized, may be used to wrap tablets and some cats love them enough to ignore the odd likttle chunk of tablet or capsule in it.

An elevated white cell count spells infection somewhere vet stress won't influence that reading.

I'm concerned that your vet doesn't seem driven to discover the cause or culturing him to see if they are even giving him the right antibiotic. Personally if he was mine I would be making an appointment with a different vet in a separate clinic for a second opinion.

He usually takes the pill pocket, but was not interested in treats last night, hence me trying to just give it to him.

I am trying to schedule an in home consult with a vet. What do you mean by culturing him?

Well first they would have to identify the source of the infection then they can take a sample of either fluid or tissue and put it on a peatrie dish and grow cultures to see which antibiotics work on it.
