9/23 Tootoo AMPS 87; PMPS 108 start trial as suggested?

Thanks everyone for input earlier. I didn't get messages until tonight regarding starting OTJ trial. I had given him scant .1 this morning and scant .1 this evening. I think he was getting two small drops with .1 actually. I was able to reduce to one small drop. I think. Hard to gauge those small doses even after studying the pics and practicing.

So with the 108 this evening, still start OTJ trial tomorrow? Where should his numbers stay? Below 120? At what point would I know that he should be back on insulin should that happen?

The smaller meals are harder to do when I'm not here. My mom forgets sometimes (she's 91). Today she forgot at 3:00 but remembered before 5:00. She felt really bad. Anyway, I can put out a big note to help her remember.

I can only do the 3-hour after meal check in the evenings. That is, until Friday when I can be here during the day.

I think you can start the trial!

Would a timed feeder be of any help? You can set it up before you leave and thay way, you're mom is off the hook with regard to remembering to feed Tootoo.
 
When you see higher numbers mid-cycle and the cat is on a tiny dose, that can be a sign that the cat is getting too much insulin.

so yes, it's time to give it a shot and see how Tootoo does. :-D do you have other cats/dogs so that you can't just leave food out? can you set an alarm at home for your mom to remind her, or make a phone call?

Wow, thanks for the quick response! Yes, I have another cat. That's why the auto-feeder probably wouldn't work. Unless I got two of them....hmmm. But then I'm afraid Tootoo would eat both. Having my mom do it is probably a better idea. She doesn't hear alarms very well, but I'll come up with something. She likes to feel she's helping, so I think she'll try really hard to remember.

Interesting about the higher numbers mid-cycle.

I'll start tomorrow and figure it out as I go.

do you see those couple of cycles with blues - one was on 9/14 - i don't have the ss open now to see the other, but i think it was yesterday.

we'll be watching and counting days with you!
