@Kyle & Simon I see your cat had steroid induced diabetes! That is what I think happened to Kitten too. I had no idea that was a thing! Glad your old boy turned it around. He is a fighter! 18 yrs old is pretty impressive. :woot::D:bighug:
We never could have done it without everyone's help here, particularly @tiffmaxee! If I had followed my vets advice (1 unit, don't test, bring him back in 2 weeks) Simon would probably be dead!!
Is Kitten still on steroids? We had to start budesonide to control Simons IBD but so far his BG is doing great!
Way to go OTJ :D!! We will be cheering you on!!

Totally agree! Getting referred to this site was a lifesaver! And @tiffmaxee has been one of the biggest helps for me too. My vet had me at 1 unit only once a day, taught me how to do injections and testing on Kitten at the clinic and then sent me on my merry way........ while my cat was hypoglycemic even. (63 on a pet meter) Which I didn't know was dangerous until I joined this group.:mad:
We stopped all steroids when she started showing advanced diabetes symptoms. She was on a really high dose so i think they were hoping she would be able to turn it around once they were eliminated but unfortunately it didn't happen. So she is just on the immunosuppressant now. Hoping that is enough to control her disorder on its own. So far, so good though and it's been since May I think. I'm glad Simon is doing well on the budesonide. Fingers crossed for both our cats to maintain their good fortune! :bighug:
