Those old barn cats can be tough as nails (not that Ralf was technically a barn cat, but he lives on a horse farm, so hey, that counts!). I have an old retired barn cat who is 23 years old now. He looks frail but is nimble and jumps up on whatever he chooses and still has lightning-fast reflexes (as evidenced when one attempts to trim his claws). My house cats are wimpy in comparison. Something about climbing trees, rolling in the dirt, supervising chores, an active lifestyle, fresh air, and “raw” food sourced directly from the barn (ewww) seems to be something we can’t mimic indoors. So hey, you just never know…
