Cleo's 9/21 Condo

Good morning and happy Caturday to all!

Cleo had a nice mid-blue evening last night, so that was good. Hoping that getting her back to the 1.75U dosage will do the trick for her... This morning's AMPS was higher than I'd like to see it, but here's hoping the day will show good numbers :-D

I was up entirely too late last night (normally my DH gets that last late night read, but this time it was me).... and now that Cleo's breakfast and shot are taken care of, I'm going back to bed zzzzzzzzz. Will need lots of ~O) ~O) ~O) when I do get up!

WCR: Well, we've been trying out the Cat Attract cat litter. It has an interesting herby smell that I don't mind up close, but there's a weird odor right when I come in the house that I think is from the cat litter (her litterbox is somewhat near the door I am entering through). It also doesn't seem to have solved the pooping outside the litter box problem. Sometimes I'll find poop in the litterbox, but I'd say 4/5 are still outside it in various spots. Pretty frustrating!

Other than that issue, Cleo seems to be doing alright. Honestly, with her BG having been up this last week or so, she seems more active. When her BG was at better numbers she was really lethargic, to the point of falling asleep on my desk so deeply every night that she'd scare the heck out of me with her non-responsiveness. This week she has been laying in the living room instead of on my desk and staying much more alert. I kind of miss her being on my desk though!

She's still purry and affectionate and showing amazing patience with all the testing - and amazing impatience when it's time for food (or even two hours before it's time for food)!

Re: 9/22 - Cleo - AMPS(295)

I sounds like Cleo is being a really good girl about all this.

I know how you feel when they go into a deep sleep. It's scary. But, it's probably good for them. I know I could use more deep sleeping  I hope you had a nice btb.

My cat J.D. was leaving me prezzies, for awhile, mostly close to the litter box or in the area. That was around the litter boxes that are down in the basement. Since his balance was affected (mostly from the drugs he was on, I think), I now close the basement door, so he can't go up and down the stairs during the week, and the litter box upstairs has really high sides (10 inches?), and there are no more misses. I don't know if that helps your situation.

Thanks for the thoughts and the checkin Dyana! Cleo's "prezzies" are in a couple different areas all over the house - downstairs on a rug, upstairs in a corner near a cabinet, etc. None are particularly near either her upstairs or downstairs litter boxes. I did start closing a lot of the doors to the rooms we don't use much to minimize the areas she could surprise us in.

She uses both litterboxes to pee, so I'm pretty sure it's not a mobility or convenience issue. Oh well, I guess I continue to be on cleanup duty!

Anyhow, the good update is that Cleo had a nice long blue surf this afternoon going into the PMPS, which is a really nice thing to see again. Now we'll keep an eye on her tonight to make sure she doesn't drop too much with another 1.75U being shot at her 178 PMPS!

Sorry about Cleo pooing outside her LB, must be frustrating doing the cleanup after her. Is Cleo burrying her peeing with the sand? Is she scratching on the sand? Some of my cats cover but some never do it. Cat Attract, is that from the Dr Elsey's? I placed a few shallow plastic boxes with news paper lined at corners of my home, some of them love to pee there too.

Sorry for the late reply... posting today's condo in a minute.

Tortie, in answer to your questions --- she's not burying her pee, but she never really has, which is one reason I liked the harder clumping litter.

The litter we tried out was the Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract, the regular sand type, not the crystal type for older cats, even though Cleo is an older cat. We tried a crystal style litter once before and Cleo flatly refused to use it.

I was contemplating trying to put old towels in one of her litter boxes to see if she went for that instead since she seems to like the softer surfaces of my bathroom rugs! It would mean doing a lot of laundry, but better that than cleaning the carpet...
