Morning LL! I smelled insulin on her coat today ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile Her skin is so light between shoulders since she lost weight, that I think syringe is going right through!!!!! Did I give 2 fur shots in a row????? OMG OMG OMG!!!!

I DID Give her Hyper T meds into her other ear, but dont think I got enough for the dose--Will do better later tonite--She's in the hidey hole & ate 1/2 of a 1/4 of a can but now she will sleep for a while...
I was jittery about giving the tapazole gel, but it really wasnt that hard--Hope she tolerates it!!!
Paws & FIngers crossed for Moonie to be well on this med!!
Spoke to vet last night-she was optimistic & said dose 2X per day will be fine-- as yahoo told me to do..

Guess Vet Pharmacy will hear my ranting message that I did not get the meds as of that time last night--
But it came at the second before UPS goes home 7pm!!!
I am quite shaken by all this--I want to do the best for her, but I am nervous about giving the meds & her reaction, so I am staying with her today & tomorrow watching for reaction--
Sorry I have rambled on & on about my problems.....Love you guys, know you understand.

In Other Words, here we go again!! Another ailment, another med..

Morning Roni - well bummer on the fur shot... well it happens, she'll recover from it. Maybe some of it got in. :-D I think too that it is only natural to be worried when we add additional meds to the mix,. I am sure Moonie will tolerate it well. Wishing you much luck!

Hi guys .. hopefully it wasn't a furshot but if it was, it's ok .. don't beat yourself up over it .. and I know you are nervous about these new meds for moonie, I would be as well .. you are giving her absolutely the best treatment in the world and she knows that .. you guys will handle this, and we are here for you to ramble to! Yes, it is very natural to worry...we're all here with you! I'm sure Moonie will do well with the meds. I was also surprised at how easy the gel was...I thought for sure Mario would run when I started messing with his ears, but he's a trooper!

:YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG: You will do great w/ the new meds and so will Moonie. I've found that when Tess sits or is hunkered down it's harder to pinch the skin, too tight. When she is standing the skin is looser and it's easier to get the tent. I also shoot down into the tent, not across. that's how humans do it on themselves.

Hi Roni

Bummer on the fur shot, but maybe you smelled and/or felt, the insulin that had dribble down the outside of the syringe, when you expelled some to get the dose. It can get on the fur.
Don't beat yourself up now...it happens to all of us eventually. You're a good mamabean, and Moonie knows how much you love her. cat_pet_icon
Before you know it, you'll be in the swing of administering the HT med, and you will forget all about how traumatic it is right now. You're new at this ear med thing. Be kind to yourself, Roni. :YMHUG:

You've been doing so well. I think you'll have the new meds down in no time and life will continue to improve for Moonie.
First days jitters with new tweaks are all part of the process.
You have done so very well with Moonie and you ramble all you want.

I hope Moonie tolerates her meds well, I know how stressful this all is on you Roni. Out of curiosity, why did you decide on the ear gel? I'm just curious, as I wasn't even offered that option. Fortunately Shnookie just gobbles the pill down with his food, as long as I break his 1/2 tab dose in half. If I leave it in a half pill, it's easier for him to avoid. There have been several occasions it's been left behind in the bowl :lol:

Moonie is doing fine despite the am furshot! Tonite I Got it in!!! But I see what I did, she's not a chubby anymore!! So I have to be sure the shot doesnt go thru & thru ;-) --She was awake a lot today, but was sweet & with me a lot--also trying to lure me on the bed to pet & hang out with her, so I did for a while..
Then I saw her flying around the LR looking up, going in circles--UH OH i said!!!
Then I saw a giant Fly!! She saw it & was chasing it--Later I saw the poor thing on kitchen floor!!
Picked it up & put it outside so it could be in the sun..I know I'm nuts :roll: Fly deserved to go outside.

Got the full ear meds for Hyper T into her ear too!!! THANK YOU AMY & Trixie for advising me to use the transdermal gel like Mario.--So easy she doesnt even know it!~!! Got full dose in, so we'll see--Thanks AMY even vet agreed that gel has less side effects, especially GI problems--
So, all is well here for today! DFIL sounds much better- DSIL going down to Flor. Monday & we will set him up with some home care..DH may have to go, we'll see.

Hi Roni, I may have also done a fur shot, too, not sure, so our girls are still alike in many ways. Good luck with the meds and you will do well, being the amazing Bean to Moonie as always. I had a lesson in giving fluids today, so tomorrow I try. Sending healing vines to your DFIL and hope all goes well with getting him set up for Home Health Care. Hugs and scritches from us.

I'm glad you got a good shot in tonight. I hate those fur shots. At least we know the effects will only last a little while and they will come back down. Don't worry about ranting. We are here to support each other. Rant if you need to. We all understand. Moonie knows you are doing everything you can to help her and I'm sure she'll get used to the ear gel quickly. I didn't realize there was an ear gel for Hyper T until you mentioned it. My cat Callie has Hyper-T, but she gets the pills. My vet never mentioned the gel. Once I got the dose worked out, Callie has done quite well on the medicine. She feels really good now.

Hi Roni, i haven't checked in with you ladies in awhile and i hadn't realized Miss Moonie had been dx with hyperT. I hear you about being nervous adding new meds to the mix, i'd be the exact same way!

Sorry to hear about the fur shot this morning, but i bet Moonie will bounce right back into the green lagoon. :mrgreen:

I'm glad all is going well with the gel with Moonie so far! It's amazing technology, and we might as well take advantage of it, if it helps our kitties feel/be better with fewer side effects! You just gotta keep those ears clean, so Moonie can absorb the meds, but honestly, even that doesn't phase Mario. So, since Moonie is used to her ears being fiddled with, with all the pokies, she should be a piece of sweet, sugary cake!

I don't think you're crazy about the fly at all! We're vegan...we take ALL bugs outside, and don't let our kitties hunt them down. Lots of people think we're crazy, but I think everyone and everything was put here for a reason, and they all deserve their chance at living! However, it IS great that Moonie was feelin' feisty and chasing the fly. A few weeks ago, Mario was chasing a bug, and it was the first time I'd seen him do that in years. I saved the bug, but at the same time, it brought a big smile to my face seeing him do that.

I knew you could do it! So happy to hear that the gel isn't so scary as you thought it might be. And the fur shot-- well, they happen. Moonie knows that everything you do is to help her.

Sending good thoughts and healing vines for your DFiL. Will call you over the weekend. I'm exhalusted from the trip and from a migraine.

Looks like the shot went in & hope that's the last fur shot for a while..

Roni...sorry about the fur shot but its good you know what happened that you gave it...now you will do perfect.

I know how worried you are but I know she will do great. I'm sure you were happy to be with her today.
