Happy Sunday!

Racci had a very green day yesterday and I'm hoping for another today but without the theatrics. My DGS has gone home and all is quiet and Racci is now taking a nap after a good morning showing all her p's. She had a great appetite, probably the reason for her high bg, combined with an old treat since I'm out of her usual treats! nailbite_smile I have to figure out what to give her as treats since she doesn't like freeze dried! If you have any suggestions that are not freeze dried please let me know. She likes hard crunchies so I need one with lower carbs.

It's one of those lazy gray days here and will probably rain. I'm going to try to visit some condos after testing Racci. TTYL.

Hugs

Re: 9/2 Racci AMPS-131

Nice numbers yesterday.
How about another good day , Racci?

I found there are some new ones out there that imitate jerky.
One of them is Wellness Pure delights has a Turkey and salmon jerky. Says grain free, they are moister than freeze dried.
I had gotten them to try but Shadow isn't as interested in jerky bits, she'll eat them some of the time.
ingredients are turkey, salmon, dried chicory root, cultured whey, salt, lecithin, mixed tocopherols (natural preservative)

I suspect the whey but they are small.
Petco had other jerky treats that were more human quality like where it would be nothing but protein, maybe salt.

The other thing with the purebites freeze dried is you can rehydrate them.
I do all the time with the little shrimp. just a couple of drops of water and the shrimp are like little salad shrimp.
I haven' tried rehydrating the chicken or turkey but I bet it would work too.

Hi Melanie -

Wow, a 36 yesterday!! I'd love to know what you did to guide it!
I'm so glad Racci is feeling well; and it sounds like the overnight was a success, yeay!

Check out Reuben's very first 'Normal' day today! I wanted to share it with you since you realllly helped us get here!!! dancing_cat
I finally feel like part of the group now

Hope your quiet grey Sunday is a good one.

Nice greens yesterday. Do it again Racci! I hope you find some treats that work. Tarragon was a crunch addicted kitty but he likes the dehydrated shrimp. Have a nice relaxing Sunday!

Re: 9/2 Racci AMPS-131,+3.5-115

Hi Rhiannon, Alexa & Melissa!

Thanks Rhiannon, I should have said jerky too. To me they're the same as freeze dried. She wont eat them either. She doesn't seem to like that texture. She really insists on crunchy for her treats now that I took away all dry food from her. She's never liked the shrimps either dry or rehydrated either. She's eaten 'Have a Heart' from Halo and liked that for a while then decided she was sick of them (no grain), the others were not low carb.

l'll have to go check Reuben out, Alexa. That's great!! I knew he'd do it in no time. It's just a matter of patience. I'm glad to have had a small part in it but you did the hard work. :-D
I did make some food notes on yesterday's post so newbies could follow if they wanted. They're not detailed but just click on the link and ask me any questions you may still have about getting her numbers up quickly yesterday.

Yesterday was a success but I'm glad I had my kids when I was young and energetic.

Melissa, It doesn't look like a green day for Racci today. If so it will be mostly blue at any rate. I guess she's resting after the low numbers yesterday.. I'm going to have to find something crunchy without too many carbs. She eats only 2% food so she has room on the treats.

Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!

Beautiful day in blue for Racci///Surely tomorrow will be even better...I have tried every treat..
Temptations for raising her bg up when low(4-5 pieces), freeze dried chicken she got bored of, pure bites, she grew out of, so now it's real chicken also!!!! These cats are a pain!! sooooo Picky Picky picky!!
Hope tomorrow is greener!-Hugs & Love from us!!

Hi Melanie!

Have you ever tried oven-drying little cubes of chicken? I tried it once and the cats seems to like it, but it's a bit of effort and takes time in the oven. I took a chicken breast, cut it into 1cm-squared cubes, put them in the microwave to cook, and then stuck them in the oven on the lowest setting (same as for over-drying fruit) for a few hours. I kept them in the fridge, but took out a few a little while before I'd give them to the cats, so they'd be room-temperature. They don't end up *very* crunchy, but it's definitely a pure-protein treat. (One way to make them crunchy would be to fry the cubes in a little sunflower oil until they're brown and crispy.) Might be worth a try for Racci?

Keep up the pretty numbers, Racci!
Hugs to you both,
Jane
