was thinking of increasing but wanted to come on here, update and see.. as well also feeling very tired today/this weekend.. :blackeye: want to rest up as much as i can if called to.

reduction has gone ok; not terrible i dont think.. but could be better. (there are eyes who can see (and have seen) more than me on it :cat:..) and looking as if no other choice really but to go back up.. or understand these the numbers so far on this one at this point.. one thing is i can tell he doesnt like lowish numbers.. doesnt like em at all. :blackeye: but theres a goal right.. and its for the meantime.. :( but idk. any suggestions/guidance appreciated. :bookworm:

was going to increase last night/today but rest and.. its also true syringes are wildly inconsistent. its infuriating really.. i contacted the company and will be sending samples when i get around to it.. (hopefully today..) cuz it really is inexplicable how much they can vary. they using a different machine every time?…….. i hate it haha. :banghead::rolleyes:

so.. because of this, doing my best trying to match syringes from previous boxes to new boxes.. but finding current box has what looks like in the middle (i have found as many as 4-5 different placements of lines on barrels generally…..) of what have been using, compared to previous box, and just looking to see if lines can get away with/match up w our dose..

so… also want to ask then on… calipers. ugh.

understand its the best way to get adequate dose. and figure any nice new syringe can be used w them; the lines obviously dont matter (?) but i tried reading up on it and seemed complicated. :woot: think have been told in the past, but sorry cant recall.. so going to try reading again.. also hear theres a ruler (!) u can use too…. But idk. maybe thats just overseas. so now im nervous to increase based off this currently until can get tools.. cuz dose could be a little higher than before unless i can eye it (which think have been doing pretty well.. :cat:..) so maybe it will be fine. (?) either way felt appropriate to wait in meantime.. :cat::coffee:

the lines help you see tho.. but idk anymore. :woot: if were to use them (calipers/ruler), is marking w a permanent marker an idea then checking to make sure, then dosing? (if my idea on them is correct..) also nervous to do, hoping i do it correctly.. might just stay checking lines….

also been frontloading cycle.. was advised to do and then also was advised to do +1s but would +2-3 also be useful in our case? :coffee: (been doing em too..)

ooh! well.. not sure if paranoid or not, and also in terms of budget an excellent price, but was thinking just to use a manual one (?).. if i were. also feel its always solid.. but am finding the practice a bit daunting and the conversions confusing….. might just be continuing what i do now for a while… eyeing lines.. haha *cries :woot:

was thinking to maybe post on forum about ReliOns and calipers etc.. unless might know. but ugh. :blackeye::bookworm::coffee:

u wont believe it.. but im like….. hm. :bookworm: went to check the syringes.. im pretty sure that the one i used today was a bit lower; because things looks reallyyy familiar dont they haha. :bighug: i swore it was similar to the others tho been used…. I just checked it now; think IT IS a tad lower than the ones being used lately (!!). so he mightve got 3.25.. tho it said 3.0. fine but terrible…. haha. what if i had increased instead?…… o_O looks like is sensitive to small changes (which is good to know.. but ugh!!..) this is why im so exact w this… i figured might be considerable! i dont even know what his dose is then officially really HAHA.. guess its 3 rn.. trying for 3-3.25!.. ugh.

might u have a thought on this?.. or being nitpicky here?.. idk :cat::bookworm: i dont think so.. anyway tyyy haha….. help. :D:blackeye:

(also was thinking of a manual caliper.. just an old fashioned one. would that be ok too? :) )
 
I think you're doing a great job!! And up until today's cycle, I would have recommended an increase to 3.25.
I learned (ty Wendy, Elise and Bhooma :kiss:) that consistency in dosing helps tremendously and I ignore how many units are needed to do so.

I have no experience with the manual caliper so I bought the 4" digital ones from harbor freight.

ok! seems to be one a lot use. :) perhaps i might try the manual and just see.. good to have that as reference (harbor freight) :coffee:

0.25 - 0.33
0.5 - 0.66
0.75 - 0.99
1 - 1.32
1.25 - 1.65
1.5 - 1.98
1.75 - 2.31
2 - 2.64
2.25 - 2.97
2.5 - 3.3
2.75 - 3.63
3 - 3.96
3.25 - 4.29

That's all the further I have listed so far as I haven't needed higher. If you need to go higher, 0.25 units is 0.33 on the caliper, so just add that to the highest caliper number, and that gives you the new dose conversion.

thank u so very much!! :bighug: it was suggested to get the digital caliper because its what everyone is familiar with but for the time being was going to try a manual/mechanical one like this https://www.harborfreight.com/6-in-utility-caliper-63664.html?event_id=183117 .. might you be familiar or know if fine too? has good reviews.. :) and no batteries.. also, understand some people just use a ruler (!!), maybe like also a special one?…… hm. but tysm.. these conversions are good then for all ReliOn, u100s?.. etc? I use these exact ones below (assuming most do):

I don't have experience with the manual ones - mine are also digital. My only concern with the manual ones would not being able to be as precise? But again, I haven't used them so I can't say for sure. They worked until digital came. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Those are the same syringes I use (although I try to use the shorter needle, but they are basically the same).

omg i feel terrible but am also happy to hear…. i was contemplating using the 6 mm but was afraid it wouldnt be long enough… you’ve had success with the shorter 6 mm working fine, going in and delivering ok?.. :arghh: (cuz i know sometimes the shots hurt.. i try my best to make sure they dont.. but things are all over the place and up and down lately for food and shots atm….)

The shorter ones are totally fine. The only part of the needle that dispenses the insulin is where the hole in the tip is. Some folks feel more comfortable with longer ones so they know they're in - the skin isn't that thick though, and you're only going subcutaneously.

Do you save your syringes? Or are there just syringes that are in a waste container that you haven't gotten rid of? Wisconsin, where I live, lets folks clip the needle portion and just toss the recapped syringe in the trash, so I just get surprised when folks might still have some on hand.

ive kept some unused as reference ~ so i can see whats up.. compare. since i started noticing the damn lines are all over the place. like the new batch vs the older batch for instance.. pretty sure old batches 3.25 is the new batches 3.0….. pretty certain. haha. :rolleyes: *cries im gettin them calipers today. im kinda scared tho. tysm cor conversions! did see them all on the caliper stickie.. tho i aint got not fancy backlight or nothing to do this. just a nice floodlight and some eyes.. :smuggrin:

dear me :arghh: the lovely local pharm tech sold me a bag of 6mm and they do feel too tiny to me.. i will try sometime tho i think i might be of that opinion as well.. make sure it gets in. :( stuck w 8 mm.. but maybe 6 mm will be ok for us. just have to see.
 
@Alicia & Kit cat im noticing that hes put on his weight again that tenting is now harder!! i struggle to get skin, afraid i pinch him hard. :/ (by upper back, shoulder blades..)

might just have to do blades/upper neck as skin is looser there. o_O

Ah - yeah, once I switched to calipers it didn't matter if they were off, so I trashed them as soon as I was done with them. Prior to that I would go through each package of needles and set aside the ones that weren't correct, and only use the ones that were. The ones that were off just lived in a sealed container (and then were used with the calipers once I started using those).
I also don't use a backlight, except for a light fixture hanging from my ceiling. It gives me enough light to see through the barrel of the syringe to line things up.

They can feel scary if you're used to the longer ones, and if the longer ones are more comfortable, then use those. I have a move where I pull up skin to tent it, and then use my other hand to part the fur so I can see her skin, so I see the needle going in, even if it's the shorter version. Sort of a grab, roll, part thing.

The shoulder blades/upper neck on the left side is where Kit always gets her shot. I know some folks move them around, but it works for her, and it helps with my muscle memory.

:arghh::arghh::arghh: ack!! lol this also me….. :joyful::blackeye: im having to stand under the stove light examining. its getting to me lol…. and aw ok! well thats all i got too.. and great to hear calipers make any new syringe ok to use!!!! cuz i got a ton i cant rn too…… :stop::blackeye:

man i could use some other techniques…. just been doing tenting…
