Re: 9/2 Max AMPS~98 +1.25~106 +2~71 +3.25~59 +3.75~58

Dale, little Max is doing great, as always. I everything okay today with little Hurricane Emma? :-D I got a kick out of her yesterday, but sorry it was so much work for you. Have a great weekend.

I have no idea how Max got up to 160. He had no food available until this test, but I let him eat early tonight because it doesn't matter what his BG is at PMPS. Hurricane Emma was busy tearing her grandmother's house apart today. However, we just discovered that at home recently she recorded a TV show called "Toy Hunter." How apropos.

Fantastic cycle today, Max! Good job and keep it up tonight!! Hope you guys have a great night, Dale!

Re: 9/2 Max AMPS~98 +3.75~58 +10.5~160 PMPS 228

Thank you, Deborah, for stopping by!

I don't know what's going on. This morning, I dropped the insulin pen on the floor. Right after that I gave him the shot. What I gave him this morning should not have affected this cycle that much.

Perhaps I am not giving him the right amount, and haven't been for a while? Perhaps this is an anomaly. Perhaps something scared him outside, and he freaked out. I used the same insulin tonight, and we will see if it is any good. I hate to do that, but there is quite a bit left in the pen. I may change my mind tomorrow if the numbers are still Yellow in the morning.

Anyone have any other ideas why I am seeing Yellow tonight? I let him eat when he wanted to 1/2 an hour before the shot because I didn't think it mattered given that he was at 160. He didn't eat very much at that time because I didn't give him fresh food, and he just snacked on the old food in the bowl. Then at PS he ate fresh food as if he hadn't eaten for hours. He should not have had this much of a spike from what he ate 1/2 an hour ago. I think I'm messing up the dose, but I've been trying to err on the side of too much instead of too little. Apparently, it didn't work. Any ideas? Maybe this just happens sometimes and then they get back on track, but we never know what happened?

well. you didn't test between that 3.75 and the 10.5.
Maybe... he had a lower number in there and that sent him up.
appetite goes with that.

and I dropped my insulin a few days ago. twice in a row.
I was so mad but it doesn't seem to have had an effect for shadow.

This could easily be a food spike. You fed right before shot time when there's very little oomph left from the previous shot.

I'd also not get bent out of shape over one cycle. Let's see where Max takes this.

Hi Dale,
My usual response to this is sort of along the lines of what Sienne said...just one cycle of wonky. I call it a "just cuz cycle".

When was the last time Max got fluids?

Carl

Yup, my money's on food spike combined with the hydration questions Carl brought up - remember a few days back we were discussing possibly upping Max's hydration (on account of his anal issue - how is that clearing up, by the way?). Can you try giving some extra squids, and see if it helps bring him down a bit?

Also, by the way, re. Ma'x bathtub hiding trick: our little lost girl, Pepita, used to love our bathtub. And Luca, our youngest, still does - he likes us to put towels and this lamb's wool kitty-cave in there, and then he sleeps there at night  He's also fascinated when the towels are takne out and someone takes a bath. He'll sit on the rim and bat the water and give whoever's in it this look, as if to say, "You *do* realize you're IN the WATER, yes?"

Hugs

Hi Dale, I can tell you from past experience I've fed Maggie close to the pre-shot because she was pestering me til no end. :? There was quite a spike at the PMPS for her! I vote with the others as to a food spike. Max will back to normal this morning. Nite/Morning!

Okay, that explains the 228, but what about the 160? He's back to normal this morning, thank goodness. Hydration is good.

I know; kind of a wake up call, no pun intended. It could have been this. My husband didn't test Max after +3 last night, and I was afraid of that. I'm glad it worked out. I woke up very nervous this morning, and didn't want to look for Max, but he was in the tub, happy as a clam. He's hungry, but I'm making him wait for AMPS. He's got 20 minutes to go.
