Sending more good BW vines. Hoping for zero NDW but if you see a wacky cycle that's probably it so try to ignore it while the depot fills. Oh and of course be ready to catch him as always in case this increase jump starts him again.

Carol it was upsetting to see those high numbers. With as much insulin he's on one would think he would be in the greens
Yeah, I know but he's just being a cat - my friend who is a feline vet told me that cats are the most difficult species to regulate
Take some solace - yesterday I got a 733 reading on alphatrak

The vet is just as perplexed as I am about everything with Fritz. I did discuss in length the BW most of it was over my head but he did put most of it in pheasant. BUN a little high something about the fat in the blood. Which he wants me to discuss with an IM doc at the University of Washington. I am going to be placing Fritz in a chamber daily for his asthma meds hoping that we will us some meds without steroids to aid in keeping the lungs functioning better. We did discuss how the inhaler might be causing the GB to be a bit higher as most of this summer I did not use or he had limited use of the inhaler till recently. I will be posting the BW for Marje to take a look at. He mentioned the test that gives the over all average for the last few months starts with f can't remember was 200. So is that good ????? does that mean his GB is averaging 200?

Did you retest? I have heard of the meter strips doing strange things with the blood:eek: Yes that is true and boy are we finding the kitties hard to regulate. I am sooooo happy for the ones that go OTJ and want sooooo badly for all the rest of our kitties to join them. We all want whats best for our little ones.
Sometimes which is rare we need to go do something else to keep our sanity and get a refresher to keep going.
Thank heavens for the caring struggling beans on this forum:bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think you are talking about the fructosamine test, which I believe is like the human A1c -
Murphy had one done, and it was normal, although he routinely went from too low to too high in the course of a cycle. I think that if you are home testing alot (as you do) those tests aren't that useful

I agree with you, the only reason I said ok was they were doing the BW and the vet mentioned it. Thanks Carol that is the one.....

Did you discuss getting the tests for high dose conditions, IAA and acromegaly, with your vet? Usually we suggest getting those done if kitty gets to 6 units in dose. One in four diabetic cats has acromegaly, so not so rare. And it makes cats harder to regulate.

So close Fritz, almost green, you can probably feel the waves lapping at your feet.

Wendy we did the IAA & acromegaly both came back normal :) He is 27lbs and has us all puzzled. He eats only raw rabbit, venison and quail.5 to 6 ounces a day. 200 to 225 calories a day that is what a 14 lb cat should eat. I am going to use a nebulizer for his asthma using less inhaled steroids which will help him when he moves around, if we can keep him from ashtma attacks he will walk and exercise more. I'm also looking into the cat wheel and hydrotherapy hoping to get some of the weight off.

Sorry, I forgot about seeing the IAA results. Could you put the test result numbers for it and the IGF-1 in the spreadsheet. It shows the blood draw for it, but not the results. Mostly curious, we don't see too many test results for non acros so just curious what sort of IGF-1 numbers they run in.

When Neko was doing just raw, she'd eat about 125 grams or 1/4 lb of raw a day. And about 200-225 calories - she was a 14 lb cat. Down a lb now. :( There's a lot of Fritz! :)
