9/18 Moe: AMPS 104

After three days of dosing 0.5 unit both AM and PM, Moe's BG has been staying below 125. I finally spoke to my vet today and she gave her official blessing to stay at 0.5 instead of the 1.0 unit she had initially prescribed. She thinks he may be headed towards remission. Woo hoo! She also gave her official blessing to switch from Purina DM to Friskies and Fancy Feast, which is what I've been feeding for over a week. I was happy to hear that she uses Dr Pierson's food list to make her non-prescription food recommendations.

Now I just need to find syringes with half unit markings. I meant to ask the vet when I spoke to her and forgot. I know they're available...I assume I can use them with my insulin (basaglar)? And I guess I need a prescription to buy them, too.

I understand that every state has different laws about needing an Rx to get syringes - I'd call the pharmacy at Walmart or some other pharmacy nearby and ask them if they need a script.

We don't need one here in Michigan...so I pick up the Relion 31 guage, 15/64"s at Walmart for just over $13 for a box of 100. They have half unit markings.

Hope that helps.

Yes, thanks, that is helpful!
