213! Maybe a repeat of yesterday? Sounds good to me!

I opened the door to the guest room a crack and let my boys get an eyeball of each other last night. Rufus was very eager to get his whole head in the door, but I managed to prevent any breaches. When they finally took a peek at one another, Rufus hopped back a few paces and hissed unenthusiastically. No sign of any Great Cat War. It was clear that he wasn't happy about having another cat in His House, but there really wasn't anything that made us (or him) panic.

Re: 9/17 Rufus AMPS 213, +3 178. Doin' fine.

We're on our way down at +3 - he doesn't usually show a huge drop at +3, so this is pattern, which I find comforting.

He's been walking around like his ordinary self. He goes upstairs from time to time and I heard a little of what I thought was a "door check" (a dull racket, really. A "Hey little cat - are you in there?" kind of thing, I think) a little while ago. It sounded like they were both batting at the door, so I kind of like that - Rufus isn't afraid, and he isn't acting aggressive either. (It was so cute last night - I was in the room with John-Finn when Rufus began banging on the door. John-Finn got pretty excited and tried desperately to open the door, but I don't think it was for a fight - his tail was up and flishing about, it didn't look agitated. It looked more like he wanted to play). That may change once John-Finn comes out and has the run of the house, but we'll only find out by going there. I think Rufus is reacting really well so far. :-D

What a beautiful kitty John-Finn is! They both might end up being best buds. Very nice numbers for Rufus this morning.

Nice AMPS for Rufus this morning...and yes, it might be a carbon copy of yesterday!! Hope you will get some nice numbers today too!

John Finn is beautiful!
Not sure if anyone suggested this to you yet. It works when one out of two goes to the vet also...the scent is what upsets the others. SO, if I were you, I would take a tee shirt or nightgown that I had worn and rub it all over the new kitty. If you can, clean his carrier out real well and try to get rid of the strange scent that is on him. It is not familiar to Rufus....so if you can change the smell to Rufus' familiar surroundings it will make the introduction go much smoother.

If you can run a damp wash cloth over John Finn's fur and then let him sleep on something that has your scent as well as rubbing it over him, it might help a little...

Have fun today...will be looking for Rufus' updates!

Re: 9/17 Rufus AMPS 213, +3 178, +7 81. WOOHOO!

I checked Rufus an hour ago, but had to wake myself up from a nap (and go right back to it!) to do so. So, his typical point-o-nadir is reading 81! Sounds cool to me - that's registering ten points lower than yesterday's +7.

As for the Rufus - well, he's acting A-OK. Taking trips around the house to take a nap in each of his favorite spots, it looks like. Not a whole lot of activity, but that's pretty common for this time of the day.

Things are going so well, I'm going to do a few more scent exchanges and then see about letting John-Finn out for a stroll tomorrow. The guest room felt a little warm, even with the fan going, and - being a playful kitten and all - I think he's bored as all get out. There's only so much room to swat things around in there, and ribbons must get dull after a while. Although... mostly what he wants me to do when I get up there is lie down so he can snuggle in my hair.

Re: 9/17 Rufus AMPS 213... +7 81... PMPS 256

Meh - I was hoping for a perfect repeat of yesterday, but I'm not brokenhearted or anything. We'll see what his +3 looks like tonight.

Let John-Finn out into the hallway (on accident  ) this afternoon. Rufus was there. They sniffed. Rufus tensed up, and... just as I predicted, "Ma! Maaaah!" which honestly did sound like "Mama". The poor boy wasn't angry - he was scared... of a scrawny kitten - probably no more than a THIRD of his size! No disaster, though. As soon as John-Finn was ushered back into the room (at which point he began to cry) Rufus was back to normal. Got John-Finn calmed down after a good cuddle and went on about the day. Geesh. Tomorrow ought to be entertaining to say the least.

The discrepancy in Rufus' readings from PMPS to +3 is so small it's... well, pretty much completely negligible. But, often enough I find that a +3 is still reflecting a small hike in his numbers. I wonder if I shouldn't get a PM +3.5 instead for a more consistent look at what his downward slope is going to look like.

That being said... I'm really tired, but will be up for a little while longer. Don't know if I trust myself with a lancet (I look a little bit like this: :?: )
