Good evening,

second day of the new dose and nothing is moving. I think I would be more patient, if I wouldn't be worried that the bacterias in her urinary tract exploded again. But I think all I can do is to keep on breathing.

I successfully installed a new sensor today. Yeahh! I wanted to start it tomorrow because I didn't wanted to loose time but I was too nervous to wait, so I started it today. I wonder if all this ever becomes routine and normal. So far it doesn't feel like that.

Hope everyone has a nice evening! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Breathe, Heike. You are doing an amazing job with Binie!! Now you get to be patient and wait for the new depot to do its thing.
(And hoping the urinary tract stays healthy)!
Sometimes I find Ivy's BG goes up with a new dose before it comes back down.

Good job with the new sensor. :bighug:I am so happy you are doing it yourself and not having to stress Binie to take her to the vet. It just takes some practice to get proficient (I NEVER thought I could do it with Ivy's temperament. (My son was the one who convinced me to try it and told me I would be able to do it. Thank God for him! He's the best moral support)

Wishing you both a calm and serene evening., Sleep well tonight :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Heike
Sorry to learn that Binie had a urinary tract infection. That does influence BG numbers. In cases like this I'm normally more focused on getting Fistuk well than his BG. There's so much that we can worry about at the same time :banghead::p
I can sympathise with the stress and I hope that Binie shows you some good numbers soon.
Good luck with the new dose :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,

thank you so much for your sweet support! I really hope the high bg is just NDW. I could live with that. I am just very scared of bad news because the options are so limited now.

I am so, so happy I can apply the sensors myself now! But believe me, my hand is always trembling after I finished the job. But today Binie was 100 % cool and she didn't even hissed when the click came. She was very busy with her freeze dried snacks and absolutely happy. I just couldn't stand the tension to wait with the activation until tomorrow, so I did it today to see if it works.

I could not have done that without the informations from that facebook group. They are amazing. When my vet applied the applicator I always saw her pressing the applicator down after the click and she very often got the problem, that the sensor was stuck. Than she had to use tweezers and I think in the end that often messed with the sensor because I had these sensor errors really often. The three sensors I applied so far all worked amazingly well until the last day. I am sure, without the group I would also have pressed the sensor down after the click.

So happy your son believed in you and Ivy to manage that! We all just need some encouragement from time to time. Is he still staying with you? I think you said he is about to move out?

I also hope you have a calm night after all this stress today. And I hope Ivy eats well and the sedation wears off fast! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly, thank you so much to check on us and your kind empathy! :bighug::bighug::bighug: I'm also more concerned about the infection, because multi resistant germs are involved and we are running out of options. The bg just concerns me so much because I wonder, if it is a sign the infection flamed up again. Last thursday we stopped the antibiotics. But I tend to worry a lot and it is so useless, because what happens, happens anyway.

I hope Fistuk and Prince are well! And hope you had fun celebrating Knabenschiessen. :)

I’m so happy you have mastered this skill. It’s so much better if you can manage it yourself!!
I still shake when I do it too, but that’s probably just my nerves and worrying if she’s gonna be pissed off.
I always keep a very thin butter knife handy as part of my Libre kit (knife with a rounded tip) since sometimes the applicator sticks and I have to gently pry it off.

Yes, he’s still living here (good for me, not as good for him ;))
He’s such a great support I love having him here. I wish Ivy was nicer to him though :(

Wishing you and Binie nice surfing tonight and tomorrow. I will be watching for your update :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ah, butter knife is a good idea! I use a metal nail file, that also works well. I am always worried she might want to get up after the click and I don't have time to react approriately if I have to free the sensor from the applicator.

So happy you have your son still close! And I am sure part of him also enjoys the comfort of your home. I'm sorry Ivy is not nice to him. :( It's a cats privilege, to be mean and to be loved anyhow. :cat:

I hope Ivy safes surfely while she rebuilds the depot! :bighug::bighug::bighug:
