I'm puzzled by the deep lows that Ramsey seems to get every little while on such a low dose of Lantus. I hope his spreadsheet attaches OK. Aside from the lows, Ramsey is doing very well...he's gaining weight and behaving much younger than his 14 years.

I'm glad Ramsey is feeling so good!

You're at a point where you really HAVE to be testing at every preshot and as much as possible between the preshots. It looks like Ramsey is probably going quite low each night, then bouncing high in the morning. You really, really have to know how low he's going. Don't go to bed after a 52 at +2 without testing again, please please please... I can't emphasize that enough.

Ramsey is most likely trying to go OTJ, if you'll do the testing you can help him do that.

Hi Sharon, welcome back

Agrees 100% with Libby.

More spot checks, pre-shot (AMPS and PMPS) numbers before you shoot.
and stay on top of those low numbers by testing frequently.

You are most welcomed to post daily here, read others threads, check out spreadsheets.
Lots to learn by seeing how others are doing as well.

Thanks Libby & Ronnie,
I'm at work during the day so can't test as often as I'd like and, although Ramsey is tolerating testing a little better, he still makes it quite well known that he is not happy about it and every once in a while he just gets away from me and I can't fish him out from under the bed. When he gets into low numbers, his fur does a weird thing; it kinds of sticks out and he looks a little spaced out. When he is like that, I never go to bed until his fur is back to normal and the glazed look has disappeared.

Many of us work during the day. Getting pre-shot tests is essential for Ramsey's safety. Frankly, I am very worried that you are actually seeing a glazed look. Gabby has surprised me with low numbers and she has never had a symptom of hypoglycemia. A glazed look is not a good sign and a BG test is a far better indicator that Ramsey is safe than how his fur looks. You're not getting any follow-up tests when his numbers are low. All I can do is reiterate what Libby said -- please, please, please get pre-shot tests and as many spot checks as you can to keep him safe especially if he's running in low numbers.

It may be best to test him at those times as well.

Please print these two links out and have a hypo tool kit.

How about that curve? Maybe this weekend coming up?

Hi Sharon & Ramsey! Welcome!
Have you gotten a chance to read any of the starred Stickies at the top of the page? This one has lots of great information that you should read and come back with any questions, ok? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18139

We always test before AMPS/PMPS and get frequent BG tests during the day if possible. We are sure to get a before bedtime check at night at the very least.

Ramsey is doing very well with insulin, but with the spotty tests that are recorded, it is difficult to pick out a pattern. Low green numbers will result in high pink numbers in the bouncing stage. If you can test more frequently during the day, it will show exactly what is going on.

Is it possible for you to post the AMPS number every morning? We start a new condo (thread) each day....We post the Date,Kitty's Name and AMPS# each and everyday. We also post the updates we get and then the PMPS in the evening. That way, we all help each other. There are experienced people here who will be able to check on Ramsey daily and answer any questions you might post...

Hope to see you here everyday, Sharon. The people here and helped me and my two kitties so much ~~their guidance has been so wonderful for us all....

Ronnie, I shoot at 5am and 5pm. Isn't PMPS, therefore, 5am?

Libby, The green numbers on Ramsey's spreadsheet (aside from AMPS and PMPS green numers) are the times I've tested when he his fur does the strange thing.

That came out wrong...what I meant to say is if I shoot at 5am and 5pm, wouldn't AMPS +12 be my PMPS?
yes, amps +12 number is the same as pmps. i think the confusion lies in there is only one test number in the pmps column on your spreadsheet. all the rest are blank. do you test at pmps... right before you shoot? that's the test number which would be considered the evening preshot number (test number 12 hours after the morning shot, taken immediately before the evening shot).
