Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Lately, it looks like I am able to post only about once a week. Things are so hectic right now and I am working really late every night. No time for anything! Luckily, I have off this Monday and Tuesday and plan on just relaxing. I can't wait!

Simon has been up and down depending on how many drops of juice I give him. His favorite place to be seems to be in the yellows, although if I give him just a drop more, he drops low. He has been taking some anti-histimines over the last week for his scratchy ears and that usually causes his bg to spike a little. We'll see what happens when he stops taking them.

Everything else seems to be the same around here. My Cleo, with CKD, seems to be eating a little better, although she is fighting me with the fluids. She loves her daddy and will just lay down and let him do anything, but the minute I try to give her fluids, she starts hissing and trying to bite me. If DH stands in the room, Cleo will let me give her fluids (so strange!!). Unfortunately, he is not always around, so it can get stressful at times. I have been giving her fluids for a year now and this is a pretty new behavior.

Big hugs to everyone in LL today and prayers and healing thoughts for Claudia, Rocket and Comet.

Re: 9/15 Simon AMPS 270

Nice to hear from you Georgia and I'm glad Simon is well:) Sounds like he's very sensitive to changes in his dosage which must make it challenging to figure out what works best for him, especially since you work so much. Glad to hear that Cleo is eating better. One of our cats prefers to be handled 'medically' by my DH. I think it's cause I've poked and prodded one too many times so when he sees me coming with the thermometer or polysporin he just bolts! Smart kitties!
Enjoy your days off!

Re: 9/15 Simon AMPS 270

Morning Georgia ~O) ~O) ~O) No worries on the condo thing: I think we all know how busy life can be when one is working. I remember those days all too well. ;-)

Sure does see like alot of kitties like the yellows these days. Mannie is in he same boat. There must be some good things to be found on that floor.

Interesting on Cleo. I suspect that Tamara may be right... they know which one of us is the "poke master". I hope she will settle for you soon. I know how stressful it can be when you have a fighting kitty on your hands, and you know that you need to get those fluids in her. It's good to read though that she is eating better. Be good Cleo! Has it really been a year since you have started with the fluids for Cleo? How time flies - I remember your first day, and that seems like yesterday.

Enjoy your day today, and those two days off coming up. I hope they are good ones!

Re: 9/15 Simon AMPS 270

I don't know that I'm seeing particularly low numbers on a fat dose. It is worrisome, though, that Simon is spending so much time in numbers that are above renal threshold. Since you're going to be home through Tues., what about putting the fat back on the dose since you'll be there to monitor?

I like the +6 much better than the yellow floor!

Tamara, I agree -- I think Cleo sees me as the "doctor" and knows she will be getting something she doesn't like when she sees me coming. Funny story -- last night she was not happy about me getting ready to put the needle in her and she was hissing at me. DH was downstairs in the kitchen and he said something to me -- Cleo heard his voice through the closed door and immediately calmed down!

Michelle -- Can you believe it has already been a year since I started giving Cleo fluids?!! That also means I haven't had a vacation in a year because I can't leave my kitties with all their special needs!

Sienne, I suspect you are right and I need to fatten the dose a little. I'll fatten the dose tonight and monitor over the next few days and see what happens. I was just too scared to give him anymore since he always seems to go pretty low during the day when I fatten the dose.

Hi Georgia, I have missed you but know how busy work and life has been for you. It's nice to see that +6 blue on Simon. Good luck with adding the fat on the dose if you decide. It sounds like Cleo is a Daddy's girl, how sweet. I'm glad she is eating better but sorry the fluids are a challenge. I have yet to conquer that task with Maggie. I hope your cousin is doing better. Did she ge settled in a new place yet? Hugs to you and sceitches to Simon and Cleo.

Re: 9/15 Simon PMPS 86

I guess the dose threat worked! I did not increase tonight since he is a nice green.

Ann, thanks for asking about my cousin. Unfortunately, she is still at the intermediate care place and I don't think she is going to be a candidate for a group home anytime soon. I am going down to visit her over Columbus Day weekend to check on her and see what choices we have.

Re: 9/15 Simon PMPS 86

very nice pmps! Way to go Simon!

And I so know on a vacation... we haven't either, as I have no one to care for Mannie... going on 4.5 years now. oh well, day trips work just fine. :-D
