Good Morning LLand! Yesterday sure was scary - I didn't realize I'd be a basket case when he hit good numbers! I thought I'd be dancin' in the streets. Instead, I was hovering over him, following him, waking him up, makin' him look at me wierd for being such a pest. Yesterday's Condo

We're still trying to work back to our 8:30 time....we shot at 9:30 this morning, will do 9:15 tonight.

+10.5 - 294
AMPS - 203
2.5u at 9:30am

Yes I shot a falling number... nailbite_smile

Re: 9/15 KT +10.5-294 AMPS 203 +2-351

+2 (11:30am CST) - 351

Ate about 1/2 can FFeast pate and a little Friskies pate. My strips are with the mailman for delivery about 2pm CST. I have 1 more left but that should be just about right.

He's bouncing all over the place....

QUESTION please - if a BG number is influenced by food, isn't that still the number the body and insulin has to deal with? I'm not getting that part I guess.

Yes it is in general, that's' why we feed LC.

Are you wondering in generral or specifically about PS BGs?

Sandy,
In general I guess. Our schedule for this crew starts with feedings at 8:30. I've tried to cut KT off by noon but by 4pm, he's begging again. Any tests I do early in cycle will have food. Doesn't some of that insulin have to be used to help support that food being processed?

I'm beginning to digest a lot of this info but there's still stuff I haven't grasped the picture of yet. I've got to get my mind off the intracellular actions of hubby's disease and out to the actions of the organs I think. I'll get there with everyone here's help! That makes me smile........

Great question! In my way of thinking, which could be wrong, I flipflop it. The food you give is used to offset the onset of the insulin. The reason I say this is that if you shoot him and give him no food, more than likely, his BG is going to drop like a rock. This happened to us one day....Gracie was at 300, I gave her insulin and her first small breffis; but at breffis +1, the plumber was here and while I fed her, Tobey ate it without me knowing. At +2, she was at 50. Even my little diving queen doesn't dive that far that fast. So the food is used to manage the insulin curve. It's also the reason we give HC if a kitty is too low or if they are coming down way too fast.

And it is the reason why you don't want to feed too much as you approach nadir....it can slow down the effects of the insulin.

Doesn't some of that insulin have to be used to help support that food being processed?

Hi, guys!

after awhile, Binks had such a strong response to carbs that with the great coaching here, we were able to tweak his curves beautifully.
took me a long time to figure him out, and then, of course...he'd change the rules on me

it's truly an interesting ride, and for the most part...they're in the driver's seat.

Whoever is wondering about exercise and the BG level (brain fart, sorry..) may be on to something. KT was sleeping for hours before that +10.5 of 294 but had been walking, wailing, dancing, by the time I did the AMPS 203. I'm wondering if the exercise helped that and they are onto something?

+7 - 249 NEW STRIPS!
