Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

Who needs :coffee: when you have an unpredictable FD kitty to wake you up?

Geez, Cinco. Did you have to pick a day when you know I gotta leave for your return to cliff diving? I'll take the reduction, but I'm not confident it will hold. With all the disruptions in his schedule lately, he's been all over the map. I wish he would wake up when Otto turns so we can get him a snack at +2 or +3. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and start setting an alarm to get up to give him that snack. :rolleyes:

A HUGE thank you to everyone that visited our condo from yesterday last night and this morning to offer vines, prayers, support and encouragement. The hits just keep on coming and every time I'm knocked to my knees you wonderful people help me get back on my feet. :bighug: We couldn't get through this without you.

Minka's happy appy disappeared overnight.:( I'm about to syringe some food so I can give her the morning dose of meds. I don't have time to mess around as I have less than an hour before Sasha and I have to leave for her appointment. Still have to do her fluids, too.

Sasha's appy was ecstatic this morning. I had to call a halt to refills after the second one, since she's in for a car ride, and even with the Cerenia on board, I don't trust her tummy to behave. Hope the dentist has a solution for the mouth issue. Although it apparently wasn't bothering her this morning. Figures.:rolleyes:

Harvey and Cinco are eating machines, thank goodness. Cinco came right up with just a little LC, another reason I'm unsure about the need for a reducie. Time will tell.

Gotta run. BBL.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Marilyn & Polly, Deborah & Shasta, Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.

Cinco just wanted to make sure you were awake for your trip today. I hope they can come up with something simple to help Sasha. Sending good vetty vines, appy vines for Minka and prayers for you and Cinco. :bighug: Thanks for thinking of me and Baby with all you have going on.

Wow Cinco! No need to do that this morning! :eek::D Guess he's jealous of the attention the other kitties are getting.

Best of luck with Sasha's vetty appointment today.

Thanks for thinking of us - I've been reading about lymphoma too. :bighug:

Wow that is quite a drop! I hope things go well today with Sasha and you get more info on a treatment plan for Cinco.

Cinco.....no diving competitions are on today....all finished .....so please stay in the shallows for your mamabean.........she is busy with Sasha today.
I hope the day goes well for you all
:bighug::bighug:

Just catching up on the results from yesterday - I'm so sorry to hear. The hits do keep on coming, and it just seems unfair. Your kitties are so lucky to have you. Sending hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug: and mega, mega vines for brave Cinco!!!

Hey Tricia, I hope all went well today. Silly Cinco, always diving when mama bean has to leave?:rolleyes:. Please eat, Minka. CPC is a great club to belong to! The boys are showing you the way:p

I'm throwing some vines to you all today, too. :bighug::bighug:

Thanks for the visits, Carla, Wendy, Elise, Bron, Deanna and Rachel.

Cinco was a good boy and came up very easily for me before I had to leave. I was really on the fence about taking the reduction, and DH was against it, but we took it, so we'll see how it works out.

Minka was coaxed and coerced by her daddy bean to eat almost a half of a jar of baby food today, and he got her to eat most of her dinner, too. He may be assigned to that duty from now on, as he has more success than I do!

Sasha was seen by a dentist at UCD today and he and the oncologist both feel that there are a couple of scenarios with her mouth. The first is that the tooth somehow shifted position so that it came into contact with the lower gum and has been just continually rubbing on it ever since, creating this sore. The second is less benign - there could be a mass under the gum that has pushed it up just enough to come in contact with the tooth. Either way, they want to do a series of x-rays and take a sample from the lesion for biopsy (my life is one long series of biopsies these days). I'm waiting for a return call from the Dentistry coordinator to schedule it. So more waiting.

I made an appointment for Cinco in Oncology for tomorrow (they just happened to have an opening). I'm not sure if we'll keep it, though. I'm waiting (there's that word again) for a reply from the oncologist to an e-mail I sent him with the appointment date and time. The radiology oncologist was not at the meeting this morning when they discussed Cinco, and they really want input from that department on his treatment plan. So if the appointment tomorrow doesn't give them enough time to confer, there's no point in going in yet. There were appointments available Friday morning, but I don't like morning appointments as it disrupts our med and fluid schedule too much. However, I'll take one of those if tomorrow isn't going to work out.

My biggest concern about radiation therapy is the fact that they have to sedate the cat for the treatment, which means fasting. I can't see doing that to a diabetic cat five days a week for a month! Dr. R. said that they can work around it. He said it's sedation, not putting them completely out, and they use different drugs, so we wouldn't have to fast him as long. I'll have to wait and see what they say after they meet with the radiation oncologist. Has anyone here had experience with a lenghty course of radiation treatments and a diabetic cat? I know Polly and Neko had SRT, but that was only a few days, wasn't it? Any input would be appreciated.

Cinco!! Why you do your mamabean like dat?? It's not nice to scare da mama!!

Sure was hoping for something simple and easy to fix on Sasha's mouth, but let's think positive and concentrate on the "moving tooth" scenario and not that "other" one.

Hope it works out that you can get Cinco in tomorrow...I'm sure you're tired of waiting to get things started....sooner they start, the sooner they're done with!

Sending lots of hugs :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ah, Tricia, I don't know how you do it. I have so much respect for everything you juggle and manage to keep in the air.

Polly was anesthetized four consecutive days at CSU. CT scan and echo, then the three days of SRT. But she got a half dose of insulin each morning even though she fasted from 10:00 p.m. the night before. She stayed on a half dose throughout. I vaguely remember they may have fed her before I picked her up at 4:00 ish each afternoon. Unsure. Her numbers stayed pretty stable, or lower, but then some of that may have been the SRT impact...although I dunno.

I'm going out vine scrounging in the yard, bundling them all up for you and the HoC and sending out special delivery. Oh, a bunch of these, too....:bighug:
:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:.

Tricia, just when you feel your cup overflows, along comes another scenario for you to deal with. You have my greatest admiration that you just get on with it, amazing! Sending bushels of vines fo Cinco and Sasha and plenty of these :bighug: :bighug::bighug: for you.

It just never stops does it. If anyone deserves a ton of good news it's you and Cinco and Sasha. You have all of us praying for you and the whole crew. You are amazing. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Ditto what Marilyn said was what Neko had for SRT, though she could eat until midnight. In the days before SRT, acrokitties used to get regular radiation, which is a much longer process. I seem to remember hearing of one going to UCD even. In addition to SRT, Neko has also had 3 dentals now which involve anesthesia, but with the dental specialist, she was able to eat up to 1/3 of her breakfast until 6AM and I'd leave a small can for them to feed her when she woke up. 1/2 dose in the AM, regular shot in the PM's before and after, but the anesthesia drug used in Canada doesn't lower BGs as much as the one that seems to be more common in the US.

For Sasha, it could be that they could do a tooth paring. Due to Neko's acro growth, she has had teeth rubbing on her gum and creating a sore. Neko's had that done twice now. And yes, X-rays are needed first but maybe they can do it all in one day.

Hoping for more answers for you tomorrow. :bighug:

So sorry you now have more worries Tricia.......it just isn't fair!:bighug::bighug:
I think you are amazing how you keep going.....
Vines to all the kitties

You have an amazing medical team at UCD...I have no doubt they can come up with the ideal plan to address Cinco's FD during radiation. Piling on more prayers for you and the whole crew....:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Had a dream last night that we were all at your house giving you support, making dinner, and cheering you on! Stay strong, your kitties are so lucky to have you, and DH, as their beans :) :bighug::bighug::bighug: Hugs and purrs and vines!
