9/14 Max - OTJ still going well, but just updating about life

I cannot thank you all enough for all your help and support with Max. I'm having some withdrawals with not having to test - it's still weird to me.

Sadly, though, I'm writing more to let some of you know we had to put our elderly dog, Bandit, to sleep today. Many of you sent some prayers out for him last month when I thought we'd reached the end as he'd dropped weight quickly. His labs showed nothing unusual, and he rallied back but had issues eating. We'd give him whatever he wanted, and just did our best to make his time at home good. He'd started bleeding from his mouth a bit yesterday so got him in to see the vet today. The vet found a tumor in his throat that had begun to bleed, so my twins and I went home and got my oldest daughter, and the four of us girls got to be with Bandit and say goodbye as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. :rb_icon:

Because of his dementia, he wasn't as much of a support animal to Max as our other dog, Jaxon, was but Max joined our family a year after we got Bandit, so they had been together for 14 years. It's been one heck of a roller coaster of a few days - from Max's OTJ party to saying goodbye to Bandit. Now, if I could only stop crying...:(

So sorry to hear about Bandit, Becky.

I've said this before and I always hope I never have to say it again....Cancer SUCKS!

It's hard to take joy in one furbabies' good health when another has lost their battle.

Sending love and lots of :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I’m so sorry for your loss. Echoing Chris here when I also say, cancer sucks! We can fight back on diabetes and so many other chronic conditions but cancer can be too much sometimes. It sounds like Bandit lived a good life, well-loved. :bighug:

So sorry to hear about your beloved Bandit! I know it's terribly hard to say goodbye to our precious fur babies.

Sending you hugs and special thoughts...fly free little Bandit...go chase those butterflies! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:cat_wings>o

It does indeed! We lost my mom to undiagnosed lymphoma 9 years ago- I inherited Bandit, Jaxon and my dad.. Bandit was hers, so I suppose it’s fitting we went the same way...

I'm so sorry, Rebecca.:bighug::bighug: Our furbabies always leave us far too soon. I'm glad you were all able to be there with him when he crossed the bridge, though that must've been so hard. May he rest easy and watch over those who love him. cat_wings>o
