He ate all his food and some more :-D
He slept and slept and purred and purred all night long- I kept him confined to my room
He is not scratching his mouth just makes some funny faces with "mom there is something in my mouth' look
Spoke to the vet and she said that I could transfer the Buprenex into my insulin syringe and inject him if I did not want to orally. As for the antibiotic she said that the injectable version of it has a lot of side affects and told me over the phone how to tilt his head back. I will try tonight and see how it goes since his morning half of the antibotic went all over his fur.

He is recovering in the right directions- I have started him back to his regular dose of insuline.

I'm glad to hear things are looking good for you guys .. recovering with love is the best way to recover! And this is not a bad start to the day at all, not with what he's been through!

Thanks Peter,
It was a scary thing yesterday but all over. I am so happy to have found this specialist. Not sure where you live but if you are close to NJ and ever need dental work done she is the one to go to.
Thanks again

More healing vines to Skippy!

Remind me, are you are you giving the forti-flora on his food? If so, my idea for the AB won't work  When I had to give Oreo liquid ABs I put it on her food and she ate it right up.

Glad to hear he is a purring happy kitteh!

Jen- if AB stands for antibiotics- she gave me the oral and the Fortiflora is a powder to be sprinkled on his food. They have to be done 2 hours apart.

Yep AB is antibiotic. That's what I thought is they have to be 2 hours apart. Don't know if you want to try a small snack with the antibiotic on it to make it easier or not.

Jen you mean I can pour the AB on his food?
That's what I did when Oreo was on Clinda both before and after her dental. I would just squirt the dose on her food and she ate it right up.

I don't know if the AB you are giving would have a negative reaction to that or not...someone else might know, but if there aren't any negative reactions it might be easier for both of you

Glad Skippy is doing well today. Wondering if that AB she didn't want to give was the Convenia that has so many negative reports...if it is that, kudos to your vet for not wanting to use it!!!
The Clavamox is a pain after the dental though...but at least it is good and the only side effect is a possible upset stomach after about 5 days. How long will he be on it, 2 weeks? Raja was on it for 2 weeks and the second week when she was feeling better was more difficult to get her to cooperate. But we managed and she never did vomit the entire time so I was happy about that.
Don't you hate dentals? UGH! But it is SO much better for them to have a happy mouth!
Healing vines to Skippy....good boy!

Pat~
Medications as follows:
pain med (Buprene) 1 syringe in the mouth every 6-8 hours, antibotic (antirobe aquadrops liguid) ones in the morning and and in the evening.
FortiFlora mixed in the food but given 2 hours apart from the antibotic.
Continue all this for 2 weeks and then go back for checkup in 3 weeks.
