Hi, I mostly lurk since I don't have the knowledge/experience of many here.

I apologize, a wonderful person made me a spreadsheet but I haven't figured out how to enter his info on it.

I work weird hours and don't have a back up I can rely on to test and dose him, so some days I give his dose at 10 hrs.

This morning, at 9:13 am 359 with my Relion. I gave him 3.

Tonight, at 7:26 pm, he was 47!!! (Now the bold won't go off. Sorry. Technically challenged) He was not acting like 47, I gave him his Fancy Feast Classic and monitored him.

Then, I rechecked at 8:54 pm, and 322. I haven't given him any. My next dosing time would be 530 tomorrow morning because of my work schedule.

I am freaked out and now it's 9:56 pm & I just found my phone to post this (kids took it again).

WWYD?

Hello and welcome.

3.0 units is too much insulin. We figure out how to dose Lantus based on how low it takes your kitty. 47 is too low. You need to reduce the dose.

Did you recently switch him to all wet food. Just wondering what the story is with the dry. Removing dry good can make a huge difference.

He is given canned food twice a day, but I have a whole bunch of other cats and haven't figured out how to go all wet ($), unless I isolate him.

47 is scary. I will run a curve on him on my next day off.

I'm so glad you caught that. And now you know that the dose is too much.
It would benefit him if you did isolate him , and only gave wet food, or maybe isolate the others who are eating dry.

A really good read about cat diets is http://catinfo.org/

I just read the ingredient list for the kirkland and I would not recommend it because of it first ingredient is various meals which are inferior,
and it's padded with potatos which cats don't need. They really shouldn't have canola oil. The list looks good from a human perspective but that's
not what cats need. They really only need protein. And fish isn't good for them daily.
If you read Dr. Lisa's article, she recommends any canned food over dry food. ( I would stay away from special kitty at walmart - made in China and has
lots of problems)
A good low price one is friskies liver and chicken pate, mixed grill, or turkey and giblets pate. In my neck of the woods, these are 50cents a can and you can get them cheaper in bulk are with coupons which are often available and sales at petsmart.

Please come back and post ,
we'll find someone to help with the ss @Chris & China
and until you can get us some more test numbers, let's adjust that dose to 1 unit so he stays safe.

I'd be happy to help you set up another spreadsheet, but if you have one set up, let's see if you can find it and work with it.

You have to sign into Google Drive (whoever set up your spreadsheet should have told you that the email addy you gave them needed to be associated with a Google account) If you don't have an email addy registered with a Google account, we'll need to get that done first

If you have a current spreadsheet going, it should be there. Find it and click to open it.

Here is information on "How to use the FDMB spreadsheet" that explains what our abbreviations are and what goes where.

If you still can't find it or need more help, please feel free to send me a private message by clicking on my name and choosing "Start Conversation" and I'll get back to you as soon as I can

Thank you so much, Chris & China White!

I would definitely love some help with the spreadsheet.

I can probably isolate Tyler with my post I131 kitty, who has been living in my master suite since her irradiation treatment, if they don't fight.

I will have to look at some other dry food for the rest of my crew, I looked at the 2 diabetic friendly ones and I couldn't afford them for one cat, much less my whole crew. I did start feeding canned food twice a day to everyone who will come, after reading much of the catinfo site. Does anyone know how much canned food per cat per day I would need if I got rid of the dry entirely? (I realize some adjustments for age, size, & activity level).

I have adjusted Tyler's Lantus down to 2-2.5 and tomorrow when I am off work I will run a curve.
