Yesterday quick drop in AM, level red PM

After the quick drop from HI to 220 yesterday AM, Papaya finally leveled out. I wish she'd picked a lower altitude, though. I think she stayed quite high all night because when she got off the bed to go to the LB early this morning she actually stopped to drink water, which she almost NEVER does. I heard this funny sound and thought "you'd better not be peeing in the middle of the hardwood, cat!" but then realized it was just the lapping of water :lol: Anyways we were definitely NOT around for the PJ party which seemed to be going on last night . . . we were tucked in quite cozily. As to the AMPS, well, it isn't black. I think it's about time for some better numbers here, but as I have to be out today I will suggest she saves the green for tonight!

Since Marje obliged by sharing the cat-tummy pics we were all clamouring for, here's a tummy pic of Papaya with her new favourite purple quilt.

Or not. +4 is 61. C'mon, man! It looks like I'd better stick around this morning after all. At least it wasn't a work day, thank goodness. Fed her some 14% turkey & cheese shreds so hopefully she won't drop any further, but since Papaya is anything but predictable I would rather be here to keep an eye on things, since it is possible though inconvenient.

This may mean I'm actually going to have to do some housework since I'm stuck here! Thanks Rhiannon and Lara for the early visits! I'll give the tummy a rub for you :-D

Good morning Amy!! Papaya is obviously trying to confuse you today. Her tummy pic is so precious!!! Love rubbing kitty tummies. Except when it's just a ploy to get your hand down there so they can massacre it. :o

Hi Mariko! The nice numbers are good compensation for the change of plans, so I won't complain! +7 is 97 so I hope she's not going to rocket back up for PMPS.

Nancy, Melissa, Marje, Suzanne and Carla, thanks for coming by to watch Papaya surf! She is back up in pink for PMPS but we do know that she can bring that down in a hurry, so you never know what the rest of the evening may have in store!

Hi Amy,
Papaya certainly has good liver action!! (as well as a sweet tummy). At least she surfed in green for quite a while before zooming upstairs. Maybe next time try a food with lower carb % and see what happens (if you are going to be around to observe).

Hi Ella! Thanks for stopping by. I know the best approach is to use the lowest carb food that will do the job. However, Papaya is a bit unusual since she is actually very INsensitive to carbs, and the bigger problem is keeping her from plummeting.

A few months ago after some suggestions from others on the board, I switched her to a higher-low carb food. Now her REGULAR low-carb food is 8 to 9% carbs, which seems to help a little bit with the black/green/rinse/repeat cycle she's been on for most of the past year. 14% barely keeps her surfing. If she's really on a dive I can shovel 22% gravy into her and she will try to keep dropping. The shooting up to higher numbers is more just a reaction to the first drop and would have probably been even worse if I used lower carbs, because she would not have stayed level in the 60s for as long as she did. ECID! (TCIVVVVD - this cat is very very very different :lol: :lol: )

Hi Pam and Josie! There is never a dull test around here with Papaya! I hope all these highs aren't just frying her kidneys, but there's only so much sense one can attempt to talk into a cat's liver, apparently.
