WOO HOO!!!! IT IS FRIDAY FURDAY! :-D :-D :-D I hope everyone had a great day yesterday. We did well here. It was zoo day her yesterday, Nicholas and William's mom and dad took the day off from work so that they could take the boys to the zoo. I was their tag along. It has been years since I have been the the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Wow, that sure was nice. They have made so many improvements over the course of the past few years. What a fun day! here's what I wrote in last night's post about the day: "Happy Friday-eve eve! Woot! The weekend is almost here. I hope everyone had a great day today. :-D :-D :-D We had a good time at the zoo, even got good weather! it was a little foggy to start, but that was gone by 11 or so. Nicholas was so excited. I love this kid when he is happy to be some place: nothing stops: go go go.... We did ok today - zoo was fun. It is nice how they have improved the exhibits there, more natural settings for all the animals. Black Bears were alot of fun, very active. This one bear was busy in the river/pool they have, water level comes right up to the window. he was fun, just inches from your face, playing in the water. We watched him do all kinds of things, even stood on his hind legs and roared. Awesome! Gorillas were the same: feeding time there. That was fun too. They have this one areas that is open within a netted enclosure for all the parrots, parakeets etc. They land on your shoulder etc. They also have these sticks with nut mixtures on them, one holds them out at arms length, birds come and eat from your stick. Little guy really loved that. He had birds on his stick. haha, kinda fun. Little guy loved it all, one very excited kid. He got to play tour guide. His dad gave him the map, showed him where we were, showed in the directional signs on the walks or poles that said which was was N, S, E, or West. He tried so hard to make sure we were headed north, or whatever.  too funny. Of course we disagreed with a few of his choices as they were dead ends. LOL: minor meltdown with those, as he was sure he was right! After all, he had the map!  all in all he did really well: warp speed here there and everywhere for close to five hours. Nicholas, and William, were running on fumes when it was time to leave. And the littlest guy: along for the ride, not one cry. sweet." Picassa link: Woodland Park Zoo.

NORMALCY IN MUSKTEERVILLE!   The circle was here yesterday.... in my office area.....   I had one of my cameras in for repair, it finally came back the day before. So I unboxed it, took it out of eh inner box, and set both boxes, along with the paper stuffing, on the floor. It hadn't been 5 minutes and I hear this scrrrrrrrrrrrrratch rip rip rip scrrrrrrrrrracth gnaw MEOW scrrrrrrrrrratch scrrrrrrrratch chew chew chew thump roll gnaw chew rip rip rip.... repeat a thousand times. Lola. Of course it was Lola. In the box. chewing all the paper ripping all the paper, scratching all sides of the box, gnawing all sides of the box.... omg. what a MESS! She'd roll in it, flip it, and then climb back in and start all over. Of course she was way too big for the box too.   What was even funnier was that Elsa and Bug heard the noise too, came and sat a few feet away and watched their silly sister. Every now and then they'd look at me with the "MOM????" look....   I took a few photos, but have no clue why I didn't do video! Silly me..... From Lola, with love: Lola: Who needs a shredder machine....

Have a great day everyone. I am on DGS duty today: Nicholas and William. I think we will be out at a local beach in the morning, maybe a river park. We are due for another sunny day, but with morning fog. The degree of fog and the temp will determine which one we do. Early in the afternoon Nicholas will go swimming. It is a new time slot for us, involves an area of the pool he has not swam in before: the lazy river, which also has a few offsetting circle areas that I hope will work for him. I do not have a morning aback up for William tomorrow, so that is why we will swim in the afternoon. His mom can be there at 1, so William will be with her while we are in the pool. sigh.... this is getting complicated, and I so hope he doesn't miss the BIG POOL too much, I hope the river access and the circle area will do. Guess we shall see. ;-)

KITTIES! Remember: think BLUE, think GREEN!! cat_pet_icon

When Lola has finished shredding your boxes and paper, please send her over here. I have tons of junk mail I've been saving just for her!!

Hi Michelle,
Your family excursion to the zoo looked like a great time was had by all, especially by Nicholas. What great photos of the animals. The lion cubs and the adult lions would be of interest to all the kitties here ("cousin lion").

I hope you can get your new schedule ironed out so that Nicholas can swim in the big pool and so that having to care for 2 boys at very different stages in their lives will not be too burdensome. What does the other grandma do when she has both boys with her? It sounds like the families have to have a strategy session!!
The "lazy river" sounds interesting. Maybe Nicholas willl like exploring something new.

Enjoy the beach. I hope the fog lifts!

Ella & Rusty

Elsa, oh my those cappuccinos are good!

It sounds like your day at the zoo yesterday was fun. That's so cute with Nicholas leading everyone around. I hope you can work out your schedule with the boys so Nicholas doesn't miss too much big pool time.

That's so funny with Lola and the box. Of course it was Lola that got into it.

Nice family Zoo day and with your own personal Tour Guide ;-) Too cute!
Loved all the animal pics. And the big cats...Beautiful!
Yep, who needs a shredder when you have "Lola the Shredder"  That's actually Hoot's nickname "Shredder" because he has such talons and attacks anything that moves and he is fast!!! I have so many tears in my comforter from him helping me make the bed....and the sheets...forget it
Have a great night Michele

LOL....love your little shredder machine!!! I can just imagine the looks on Bug's and Elsa's faces...I love how expressive kitties are. I hope the afternoon swim went well with Nicholas...you sure do have your hands full, and I think you qualify as the Energizer Grammie  ! Have a great night, Michelle!!

Hi everyone! I hope your day has been a good one. I don't think we broke 70 here today, maybe 65 tops. The fog and the clouds never did clear. So much for that 85 degree day we were supposed to get. shesshhh! I am so glad I elected not to make the morning a beach morning with the boys. The sun never did show, It would have been foggy and misty on the shore, so the Sammamish River, inland, was a better option. Instincts rule! Today was a decent day with both boys, I was able to get things a little more set with hauling them both here there and everywhere, a bit more organized than I was last week. A relief! The River park at Bothell worked well. Little guy remembered, that was nice, as it's been a while since we have been there. Off he went to his familiar haunts, played in the river, fed and chased the ducks, then played on the play equipment they have there. The littlest guy slept through most of that. haha. The swim/pool time went OK today. We didn't have access to the big pool, as it is closed during the afternoons, reopens in the evenings. There was no one in it this afternoon.... . it is painful to see a pool sit idle when there are those that would love to be in it. I wonder if comes down to guarding issues, and they just don't cover that one in the afternoon. anyways... we did the lazy river they have next to his normal beach play area, and the small circle pools attached to that. it worked ok. Nicholas loved the lazy river! we will have that for times when we can't go in the mornings. He was funny - kept telling his mom he as swimming in the river. There is a nice current they have in some spots  , that gave grammie a workout too! - shessh! so it went today. A successful day.

Hi Ella - LOL on my new paper shredder. I am sure she'd be more than happy to oblige.  The zoo was fun, and a big yes on Nicholas! He loved it all, such energy spent running from exhibit to exhibit. The lions and bears section is so well done! me too on the schedule. The rest of September through October will be difficult, and all my backup takes off for vacations - for a whole month! Mind-blowing that the other grandparents, who have signed on for watching the boys, can just take off for a month, no concern that they have left a few folks in the lurch, leaves me to carry the load. oh well. that is what it is. The otehr grandparents really do not do anything with the boys. No parks, no walks, outdoors and certainly no rivers! etc. they visit their adult friends but that is about it. I agree on the strategy sessions - it is so needed. we have tried to do that, think we have things set and then they change there minds... sorry for the rank, but it is sore subject with me. anyways.... I will be glad come November when my MIL will be back and can take a day or two a week and then the big pool will be available on a consistent basis. and right you are on the lazy river - Nicholas really enjoyed that, which was a huge relief! YAY!
Auntie Ella! THANKS! They are my favs! ~~ Elsa, lil BIT, kitteh barista

Hi Carla - THX, it really was fun. Such a nice zoo it is! oh yes on our tour guide - he was such a hoot. THX too on the schedule. I hope so too! Working on it.... I so agree on that box. omg! crazy silly girl.

Hi Pam - THX, zoo was great, and our tour guide was PRIMO! I so loved the big cats - omg, gorgeous for sure. The bears were so fun too. LOL on Hoot! That is too funny. The Shredder!  My daughters cats do that with her bed too. Her sheets are also shredded,....

Hi Amy - Me too! Best darn shredder machine this side of the Mississippi! THX too on the afternoon swim, it did go well, even when he started to tire, as he did loose some of his nap time. But ENERGIZED for him was an understatement.  and me? omg..... beat! We did alot of the river they had there, alot of work to work that and keep Nicholas up and on the surface. crazy, but he love it.
