8/8 Hershey

HAPPY CATURDAY!!

It's been just over a month since our last condo (Thanks, Carl, for coming by to see us!), so I wanted to give a quick update on Hershey. This is actually the end of Friday PM cycle, which marks 20-months on insulin and 15-months on Levemir. We've had several shooting delays in the last month and Hershey has left us confused on more than one occasion (So, nothing new to report there!) but he seems to be doing well. All P's are usually in place (don't always get to see the LB before it's scooped).

Three nights ago, the evening of 9/10, I had a talk with Hershey and explained that if he didn't show us some nice green soon, we'd be increasing his dose. I explained that we weren't upset and the increase was not a punishment, just our way of trying to get him back to some nicer numbers and feeling better. (9/8 & 9/9 saw him mostly laying around and looking kind of sad.) The next morning, he gave us a (45) at +7.33. Well, I guess he showed me! I know part of those higher numbers came from his shot time getting off - he just doesn't seem to like being moved up :30 a day, butI like to get him back on schedule as quickly as possible. We decided to leave shot time at 7/7 through September since we'll be gone much of 9/28 for Sammy's FIRST birthday party! :o I can hardly believe it!

Insert OT here - Speaking of Sammy - He's going to be a big brother in April! We're sooo excited!! Jessica said she hopes it's a girl so Doug will be REALLY wrapped! :lol:

This is one of the best (BG) days Hershey has ever had!! I know I can't expect this every day, but I'll take it when I can get it!

Hi Libby, great to see you and Hershey visiting, especially since his handsome face is on this month's calendar. He's looking fabulous today. :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: Congrats on the sibling for Sammy. I hope you get to visit lots.

We're on day 4 of Lev - and lots confused. :lol: :lol: :lol: I move Neko up and down in 15 minute increments, she seems to be alright with that.

Hiya Libby!!!

First off, congrats on the next grandbaby (granddaughter!). Awesome news. About a year and a half distance between siblings is good. That's about how far apart my older sis and I were. Boy or girl, Sammy gets to be a "big brother". :-D

I know you said this was one of Hershey's best days ever, but his spreadsheet looks pretty darn pretty lately, and on such a small dose too. There's that one ugly pink number right in the middle of the screen (not quite sure what that's all about, but I'd be tempted to say "bad test strip" :lol: ), but other than that, very blue/green tint to the whole thing.

Love how you had a sit-down chat with Hershey and he responded so well. ;-)

I hope all at your house (and in the dorm rooms) are well, Libby. Great hearing from you.

Oh, and have Jessica click on my sig link some time soon. Lots of recent pics for her to ooh and ahh over. ;-)

Well, not only did Hershey hand you a low number, I think he heard you about more green!

Hi Libby - it's great to hear from you. Wow on Hershey! What nice numbers of late. It is really good to read that he's doing well. Congrats too on the new addition to the family!

Hey, Wendy - Good to see you! Switched to Lev, huh? I hope it works as well for Neko as it has for Hershey. I couldn't believe how well Hershey took to it; I hope it's the start to fabulous days for Neko! Yes, Hershey does better with :15 moves, too, but I needed him to be around 7am shot time by Sunday. He usually forgives us after about 5 cycles, but this time it took him a lot longer. Who knows why and Hershey won't tell!

Hey, Carl - Great to see you! I passed along your praise to Hershey; he was swollen with pride. :-D Yes, he's like the rest of my kids - sometimes he listens and then, sometimes he pretends to listen and does what he wants to... I'll tell Jessica about the pictures. You could probably hear me ooh'ing and aah'ing over them. Fabulous!
