Happy Lupita Friday!!! Sending many healing vines to Jupiter today.

It's been an adventure of a morning for Gracie. In our previous house, we would take Gus, GA Teddi, and GA Max outside in the backyard with us and we used to do it here until we started getting regular visits from the bobcats IN the backyard. Gussie remembers the outside visits and he loves going out there so this morning, he was adamant that he should go out with me. I gave in and let him go knowing I'd only be out a few minutes and he would roll in the catnip patch. Gracie was on her meow lounger and, as I closed the door, turned to see where I was going. The back door is glass and all of a sudden, she came flying across the room all puffed up including her tail, staring intently at Gus's backend as he was walking away, as if to say who the heck is in my backyard???? and then the realization dawned on her that it was Gus. All the fur immediately laid back down and her little expressive face told the story oh...just you Gussie but what you doing out there????. When I brought him back in, I swear she sniffed all the catnip scent out of his fur :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Today is three years since LBG's FD dx. As you all say who have passed this milestone, it is bittersweet. Yes, we thought she would be OTJ by now. But we have been so blessed to find FDMB and our family here because I'm certain she would not be as happy and healthy as she is without it and without all the wonderful people who have helped us through this journey. We were "inquisitive" newbies :lol: :lol: :lol: (read PITA). Besides teaching us about FD to best help Gracie, you've brought many laughs to us and supported us when we needed it. We will always remember all the kitty adventures. So we thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts whether you've been here a long time or just a few days. And I'm still not sure I will get over Lara's shrunken patience pants and the ensuing Mick Jagger discussion :lol: :lol:

And lastly....well, the proof is in the pudding, Carl. I could tell Gracie was feeling like her Lil Stinka self today as she was eyeballing Lupita with great disdain so I grabbed the camera before Lupita started singing to her and the evidence is below. I know it looks like she is panting but she's actually storing up for the next hissssssssss as the only time it crosses her lips is when Lupita is here. I got a brief video just for proof and then ended the encounter so as not to stress the Principessa. Nuff said because I believe LBG drives home the point. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Marje, the video is WONDERFUL!! What total disdain! :lol:

"Happy three years" doesn't sound like quite the right thing to say, I know it would be more of a celebration if she was off the juice, but that's three happy and healthy years that wouldn't have been possible without the insulin . . . so I'm glad she's doing as well as she is and still going strong! It seems funny to think of you as an inquisitive newbie, because you seem very much a pillar of wisdom around here. All the best to you and Gracie.

Hi Marje - I can't believe that mean hiss came out of the sweet little face!!! She is so sweet and beautiful! Happy 3 years on the FDMB! Speaking for myself and I'm sure all the others, we are so happy to have you here to talk us off the ledge and help us get our kitties in order. And Gracie may not be OTJ, but she's got some awesome numbers most of the time and like you said, she's happy and healthy! :-D

And despite your "inquisitive" nature, it's been great to have you here and hanging around helping everyone out. It has truly been a pleasure. So, despite the decidedly bittersweet nature of the occasion, Happy Anniversary!

What a cute kitty, even when she's hissing. It's a hiss, but a sweet little hiss. Her eyes are beautiful!

The video, complete with panting, made me laugh out loud. Cats are so honest. If they would rather not have anything to do with someone (as beautifully illustrated by Gracie), they let that be known. It's only fair. But if they love you, then there's no mistaking it, and the love of a cat is a fine, fine thing.

I can't help but selfishly be happy that you're here, Marje, but you're right, it's for a bittersweet reason.

You light up the place, and you throw a wicked pyjama party.

WOW! I second that! Marje is when I realized that THIS was the place to be as there was no flippin' way my VET was going to hold my hand at 3AM! ....... even if it was "only" midnight for the night owl! It was so scary but Marje was there - I didn't even know what a Pajama Party reference was all about - until it happened to me!

And, little Gracie! Guess there are just some people that set them off? We can't blame the vacuum cleaner theory on Lupita as she was SINGING! .......Maybe Gracie found her a bit off key? GO AWAY LUPITA LADY! GO AWAY!

Love that video - that is certainly proof of Gracie's affections (NOT)!

On the anniversary, it is indeed bittersweet but it is always good to look back and see how much better Gracie is now. She is going great. And you are amazing!

I know it is bittersweet to say Happy Anniversary. I'm sorry you have to be here, but glad you are. You've been a great help to me and Furball. I'm so glad you've been able to keep LBG happy & healthy.

Hi Gracie,
I was planning on coming on and trying to come up with something creative and believable. You know how when kids are young, and little Johnny pulls little Susie's ponytail and shoots spitballs at her? Not because he hates her, but because he thinks she's really cute and secretly likes her. But he's a boy, and it wouldn't be acceptable at a young age to admit he actually liked a girl.... so yeah, I was going to take that route...

But in all honesty? Yeah, you hate Lupita with a passion. The look on your face and the panting/hissing? That's not even close to an attempt at "Singing along". That's just plain onery. :lol: :lol: :lol:

So does her voice just hurt your ears? I think it's wonderful that she took the time to wish you a happy anniversary, but um...... I can't see any American Idol judge, even the nice ones like Randy Jackson or J-Lo saying "Lupita, you're going to Hollywood!!!"

So Marje, I give up. Like you said, the proof is in the pudding. God bless Lupita, but I can't help her with this. :lol:
 
Oh Carl....whatever would I do without you? :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I was gasping with laughter through your whole post and I'm so glad you've finally believed what I have witnessed with my own eyes. No one could remotely believe there is any love in LBG for Lupita. And yes, her singing is pretty bad. Believe me....I hear it every week. Actually, I have to admit, it is bad when she's singing to the cats because she uses that high pitched voice. But when she is singing hymns, it's very pretty. I'm just not sure if she can work "Gracie" into a hymn :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Speaking of.....read this and my lips LITTLE BROWN GIRL!!! You are getting a dose increase tomorrow! I have been sweet and nice since you didn't feel well last week and I wanted to be sure you were totally feeling normal but now.....I see you playing and romping and being mean to Lupita. More juice tomorrow!!! Back to work!!!!!
 
Hi Marje. It's hard to imagine you as a newbie! You and Gracie have helped so many of us over the years and although a "Gracie condo" and you would be missed very much we pray that the LBG goes OTJ sooner rather than later.

I loved the video and it is hard to imagine such a terrifying hiss coming from such a cute face :lol: .

I meant to say earlier, regarding the 3 year mark. Well, Marje, not to sound deranged or whatever, but I'm "glad" that Gracie, just like Bob, became diabetic. Bob's dx was a blessing in many ways. Diabetes is what brought you and I and everyone else who posts here to this amazing place. I "meet" over million people a year at work. But I've never met a more incredible group of people in my life as the members of FDMB. It's impossible for me to fathom - after two years - never having come here. My cat is OTJ. But I have to believe that even if Gracie had gone OTJ two years ago, you'd still be here, right? Think of it this way... she keeps you "in practice". If Bob ever relapses, I'm going to have to relearn the dance steps. ;-)
 
You tell such wonderful stories and the video is wonderful. Gracie is one expressive cat! Does she hurt Lupita's feelings?

It was great having your support last night at the pajama party. You were all so funny. Thank you for all you've done for me and all of us.

Happy three years!! I am so thankful that you are part of my experience with diabetes....you have helped me and Tomcat so much...so much....so being so very selfish....I am happy you are still a part of this wonderful community.

I cannot believe that video is of your darling girl......ummmmmmmm talk about BLACK EYED!!! WOW.

love what she is sitting on.....such lovely pillows....tons of them of course.....mind you, I am sure she didn't even think about leaving them....lil Stinka just held her ground...

had the biggest laugh at her all puffed up doubling her size to confront the intruder this morning...hahahhahahahahahahaha. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Boy, your babies sure do keep you/us entertained...as always. makes me feel like getting another......

Brings tears just to read how loved you are, Marje. And special. Just as special as little princess hisspot herself! It's like "What part of 'Go Away!' do you not get???" Poor Lupita, I'd feel more sorry for her if she hadn't been singing :lol:

I don't know what I'd do without you - I'd have no one to pester with all my questions for one! :oops: You've truly been a lifesaver in our house - even DH says: "WWMD?"

Sorry for the bittersweet anniversary - if anyone deserves to go OTJ for effort it's you & Gracie. But I'm graced to know you. o:-) Here's wishing next year brings you an OTJ anniversary! Just stay with the Board, ok??? :-D

Cleo and I have also benefited from your immense knowledge, so although it is a bittersweet anniversary, I cannot imagine LL without you!! And how can that sweet face make such a hiss??? I am so glad Gracie is feeling so good!! Her antics always make me smile!

I just watched the vid again, and the most amazing thing to me? Before Lupita made it sound, it looked like Ms. G was asleep or close to it. Totally relaxed and closed eyes. She went from "out" to "breathing fire" in like a half a second! :lol:

Yes, Carl...she was having a little nap all cushy in the pillows on our bed. What a wake up call! :lol:
 
I think you would have to re-arrange Gracie's snack schedule and let Lupita give her a treat each week.

kinda like getting them to associate testing in the beginning with something rewarding. :lol:
Then she might not dislike Lupita so much.....

We do that with our crazy lunatic eskie.... she doesn't like any one who isn't her clan.
 
Rhiannon....we've tried that. Gracie will gladly take the treat but that doesn't mean she's changing her mind :lol: she's a smart girl!
 
Hi all, sorry I missed this yesterday... Congrats on 3 years Gracie. it seems odd to day congrats on being diabetic, but I think it is order: three years of being a healthy happy kitty, despite being FD. I hope you celebrated well.
