9/12 Herman amps 126 +3 142 pmps 149 increased to 0.75

Numbers just keep climbing. Poor guy. Anal glands expressed, treated with Advantage II for fleas yesterday, Feliway in house (don’t think stress, even if Ralf is stressing him out which would surprise me would cause such a big impact on his BG, extra litter boxes. It’s possible that the urine culture comes back positive for some thing, but I won’t know for a few days. I’d like to say he stopped pulling it his tail but he still seems to be licking a bit back there more than usual. In the meantime, I think I’m going to increase tonight and try and get his numbers back under control. Just four days ago, we were in a week of lovely greens!

Is he still “regular” regarding his business in the arena? Was just thinking his numbers went up when he was constipated before??

Poor guy. It’s hard when they start shredding themselves. Is his skin damaged/inflamed or is it just the fur that’s impacted?

I didn't specifically see a BM yesterday, but the previous days I did so I wasn't suspecting that as an issue. Constipation has raised his bg before, you are absolutely right. He is very quiet today, looks uncomfortable. I wouldn't say he has any damaged or inflamed skin. I wonder if the flea treatment is bugging him now. I am grasping at straws - wish I knew what's bothering him.

It would be so great if they could tell us what was wrong with them (although with as much as Kit yells at me, I'm not sure I want her talking all the time.)

Afternoon Amy, I hope you can find out what's bothering him. Makes me sad . If you increase tonight good luck .:bighug::bighug::cat:
Thanks, Diane. He just looks so dejected. His appetite is fine though, thank goodness. I guess I should try an increase??? I am going to add a question mark to this post in case someone wants to advise differently...I never know if I should wait things out or be aggressive. Want to do what's best and safest for Herm.

Follow what the numbers tell you to do. Plenty of room for an increase. It may be temporary (I hope) but will help prevent glucose toxicity setting in. He was looking so nice in his green tuxedo.

Don't imagine he'd do well with a soft collar to prevent tail chewing? :stop: Infection/inflammation can raise numbers.

Oh I don't think that would be tolerated by Sir Herman. He literally lost his mind from having the Libre on early in our journey.

I will increase tonight and keep a close eye on him while we sort out whatever is going on - thanks!

I kind of thought his majesty would be above such interventions. Did the vet suggest anything to put on the itchy site?

When growing up, we had a small dog allergic to fleas who really went after the base of his tail. We ended up giving him flea allergy shots. By "we", I mean me. Grade 11 and my first time giving an animal shots.

Wow, Wendy, you were pre-destined!

Poor Herman! Hope he feels better very soon :bighug::bighug:

No…..hmmmm
Amy, my vet has me give Ivy these drops when I took her in for itching, see photo . (She was pulling fur.) Seems somewhat better lately, antijinx. I’m also giving her chlorpheniramine 2 mg 2X, shen calmer 2X daily for assumed seasonal allergies.

Thanks for this Staci, I’m going to look into it. I guess it’s possible he has allergies, the vet did mention it. I guess it’s possible they onset later in life, or maybe I didn’t notice. Diabetes makes me hyper aware of everything!

I know. Same here.
Ivy never had this behavior (fur pulling) before and there was never a mention of allergies. All weird stuff.
When you mentioned allergies, that caught my attention.

Now I have a spot on Ivy’s nose that is concerning me that I must have looked at. Always something, isn’t it?
