I am not liking the behavior of my male civvies toward Snoball. They seem intent on keeping him in his room. Last night Bing chased him up the stairs and Sno doesn't do well on them to begin with. Bing spent the night in the bathroom.

I was a little worried about this morning's 62 so I slimmed down his 1u.

Poor Snoball getting chased by Bing. You may have tried some of these but will throw them out.

Do they have a highly valued treat? Something they will all just about crawl over broken glass for but still safe for Snoball? If they do then try enticing them all together with it but only give it to them when they are being nice to Snoball. I had the reverse problem when I adopted Autumn she would charge my civies. But for raw chicken she would sit next to them all day. lol

Another trick is to trade scents. If possible switch up the litter boxes, trade around the unwashed bedding etc. I have even taken used dryer sheets to rub the gang down so everyone not only smell the same but also of home.

If Snoball plays try a play session with the civies first to tire them out some then have Snoball join in. A good time for this is right before food. Because it imitates their natural stalk, kill, eat, groom then sleep cycle. Plus in the wild cats will form hunting parties to care for the clowder. So by emulating that with play they should see him as a member of the family.

Thanks Mel.

Snoball has been integrated since June. They all get along pretty well and the hissing and growling has decreased. All three boys are sleeping on the bed now. Unfortunately Bing has Feline Hyperesthesia (sp?) where his back ripples and he goes on these wild chases. He doesn't let up and this past July he wounded his best buddy. All of them are learning to fight back. When Bing raises his paw at Sno, Sno raises his higher. The solution is to stay put and Bing will go away but instead they all run and then the chase is on. I am still hoping that Rosetta Stone comes out with a dvd set for communicating with Felines so I can tell them

They LOVE to use Snoball's box and he doesn't seem to mind it as much anymore. He does not use theirs because it has the cheaper litter in it. Snoball does not like treats - I eliminated the HC treats he arrived with and replaced his testing reward with brushings. I use his brush on all the others to trade scents.

Unfortunately this usually happens right before meals when Bing is super anxious. There is no time to play with him. He will just have to spend more time locked in the bathroom.

So it is not so much an integration problem as it is that I have a neurologically impaired cat. I think that once the temp foster goes to her new home I will have use of the study to jail Bing when I see these episodes coming on.
