Bean is having a little better day today, though this bounce of flat pinks seems to be more discouraging than usual. Zener is feeling good - with 4 of 5 P's in place, no playing yet but he was prowling, could that count as one of the P's?

I have to spend a little time in my office at school today to try and catch up after being away the first week of classes. Liz has a massage today! :smile: Since we will both be in and out today, it would be the purrfect day for Zener to break his bounce!

I'll take prowling... and not just because Willie was doing the same earlier in the garage! Fingers and paws crossed the bounce clears soon! Have a great weekend, guys! Massage sounds wonderful!

Thanks Lisa and Christie for visiting and the encouragement! Zener must be listening to you and hopped the express train @+2 dropping 86 points to 269! We are relieved he is coming down. It could be an active cycle and will be watchful he doesn't sky dive!

Hi Anne, glad to see Zener came down and I hope no sky diving. I like prowling as a "p", definitely, and glad he is feeling good. Mags seems extra playful when she's high for some reason. Have a nice day, and a massage sounds so nice for Liz.

Hi Ann, thanks for stopping by! That's interesting about Maggie feeling good at higher numbers, sometimes Zener does too. I wonder if it is a hold-over from being at high numbers for a while before he was diagnosed and before Lantus. He often acts more lethargic at low numbers, but that is slowly changing. Liz totally deserves a massage for doing such a great job as single mom while I was in Germany! Hope you and Maggie have a great day! :-D

Zener is following Mr T onwards and upwards, darn it! I think it's my fault though by feeding him so much so late in the cycle. We just aren't used to him having an appetite! We have paws crossed for better numbers in our next cycle, like we have some control over things! :lol:

Well pooey, I'm not used to Zener having an appetite, so when he was hungry at +9, I fed him and then when he wanted more, I gave him a little more. Darn it! I'm hoping it's only a food spike. We do not like red.

Glad to see him out of red. I know you like to feed him when he's hungry since often he is not. But if it is possible, it's best to not feed them much at/after nadir or you will slow down the effects of the insulin. If Gracie is really hungry at/after nadir, I only give her boiled chicken. 11% food seems like a lot of carbs to give that late in his cycle. Just a suggestion ;-)

We haven't seen too much effect of later feeding, but saw it in a big way today. We don't think we'll do that again. He will eat freeze dried chicken but not boiled chicken. Is there much difference? Maybe we'll try the boiled chicken again. His appetite is so much better now than before that maybe he will like it now.

Thanks for the help. We really appreciate your input. Sometimes we are sitting too close to the screen. :lol: :lol:

We would like to get him eating a little lower carbs, but we are so glad that he is eating something regularly we are a little leery of trying to change food too much right now. Most of what he likes is in the 10-11% range. And then, he does love the freeze dried halo chicken, "kitty crack".
 
maybe take a look at the ingredients with the freeze dried chicken. if it's just chicken, it's probably little/no carb comparable to the boiled chicken.

:lol: liz on anya being the trophy wife. she prefers to think of herself as a "kept woman." :lol: a little May-December romance to keep punkin young - and i heard that he's left it all to her if he goes first! ;-)

zener looks like he's sucked up a whole can of gravy tonight! what's up with that, little buddy? :lol:
 
Does Punkin have a large estate? I've heard he's heavily invested in the toy industry.

Yes, Zener loves his carbs. The 11% is what he will eat so that's what we are giving him. We are thinking that 2 cans per day of the ProPlan from purina is the right amount for him. Just figured that out tonight. It's quite a relief to get him on a consistent eating plan, even if the carbs are higher than we would like. Still lower than dry food. The freeze dried chicken is chicken with moisture, protein and fiber. From Halo.
