For today, I proudly offer Elsa's special 10 hour energy coffee, and triple shot espresso, beans from the heart of central Ethiopia. and for my mocha fans: Venti Quad orange and vanilla mocha, laced with orange swirls, topped with chocolate whip, garnished with orange zest, slivered vanilla beans and chocolate swirls....SWEET! OH! No worries, a dollop of orange and vanilla and chocolate swirl ice cream, on top of a dollop of fudge, topped with crystallized oranges and chocolate drizzle.... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... mega good! TJ's dunking cookies and Cronuts are along for the ride!
I hope everyone had a great Monday. Mine was great - another hike, back to the North Cascades! What a wonderful place to go hiking. and! we had good weather too. I'm not too sure of the temp on that mountain, but down below we were in the 70's, sunny and warm. WOW: What a summer we are having... Mannie? is that your doing? All this sunshine? Well, your bean thanks you. I thought of you today while on the trail. Rays of sun, and Mannie sunbeams, were breaking through everywhere. It was just so nice! What a great way to remember you. And the hike wasn't too shabby either. Sahale Arm: a little piece of heaven... here is what I wrote in last night's post: "Hi everyone! I hope your day has been a good one. Incredible would be mine.
I did go hiking today, it has been a long day on the road (3 hours each way), but the allure of those mountains in the North Cascades won out again. I threw weather predictions out the window, caution into the wind and went for a hike that has been on the to do/repeat list for about 4 years now. I headed up the Cascade Pass, and then Sahale Arm from there, I did this one about 4 years ago, but due to time restraints (Mannie needed his insulin! Priorities!!
) I didn't get far at all onto the Arm, not even a tenth of a mile, and vowed I would have to get back. Today I did. It sure does feel good to make a goal. successfully. Sahale tops out at 7200 feet, I did up to about 6900, just shy of the glacier. I sat there for a while just taking in it all, the glaciers, the mountains, vistas, all of it. You get caught up in something like that, it just consumes you. I felt so alive up there, just absorbing all that lay before me. What a feeling.... all told I did about 11.5 miles, climbed close to 3000 feet. I could use a tall frosty cold brew, and a cheeseburger, a bacon cheeseburger... LOL. This bean is tired! an hungry!!
" Never did get that bacon cheeseburger, or that tall frosty cold one...  Picassa links: On the road to Sahale...., and Cascade Pass, Sahale Arm. There are two videos in the Sahale Arm album. While on my way up to the pass, you pass the most incredible section of mountain walls, decked out with packed snow and ice. I could hear sections of the snow and ice on the side of the mountains break away, cascade on down the slopes. It is an incredible sound. I tried for one video... rather badly. In the center there is a section that looks like a moving water flow: that is the break away ice and snow... Very cool to watch something like that up close.
and.....
I am in DEEP TROUBLE!              I was late getting home yesterday.... very LATE!         Like two hours late!
 The welcoming committee was not pleased... the blood oath I signed, stating I would never ever be late, was waiting on the landing for me, along with three very grumbly kitties. They made sure I knew that their tummy alrams had gone off two hours before....   So... I had to wait on them and and foot, cater to their every whim, and serve only primo fuds. Remind me not to do that again.... Lola forgave me soon enough and was back to being Lola: flipping and flopping and rolling on and down the Stairs, repeat a dozen time over. silly cat! Big and Elsa went to bed instead. ;-) Lola was also back to shower visiting: atop the shower door, watching.... silly cat! how does she balance on that thing? oh LOL: A whack-a-thon is on progress as I type: Lola and Bug: on the hind legs, standing, whacking each other.         YUPP! NORMALCY IN MUSKTEERVILLE!
you gotta love it...
Have a great day everyone. not too much going on here today. I am off to Seattle later to visit my Seattle friend,. YaHOO!
