Yesterday Jetta 8/31

Good mornign LL,

Nice start to the day so far. Jetta's AMPS was a very nice number for her. She has a vet appointment today for a weight check and her 4th B-12 injection. So, we have kitty olympics to look forward to today. bcatrun_gif As soon as she sees the carrier, they're officially in session! bcatrun_gif

Thoughts and prayers still go out to Melissa and Tarragon.

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268

Good morning! Thank you for your thoughts! They are definitely working.

Ah the dreaded carrier! Turnup, our civvie, can put up a heck of a fight. We wear tube socks on our arms to get her in. Tarragon used to fight, pre-diagnosis. Now he just lets me put him in there. I guess he figured out I always win anyway.

Have a wonderful day and a great vetty appt.

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268

Hi guys .. sunny numbers for jetta this morning .. I hope the vet visit goes well .. after you get the kitties in the carrier of course! We have learned to shut every door possible before showing the cats the carrier .. makes it much easier to catch them .. won't be around tomorrow, so have a great holiday weekend!

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268

Good luck with the vet visit and the Kitty Olympics  ! What I do to try and make the battle easier is I bring the carrier out a good 12 hours before the trip, and I put it in a small space - like a bathroom - where the kitties can't easily hide or get away. That way, they get their "Holy crap, it's the carrier!!!" ideas out of the way loooong before I actually have to use it. Before grabbing a cat, I also have the carrier open and ready to go. Then I grab a cat, go to the small room with the carrier, quickly close the door and plunk the cat in. By having the carrier out so far in advance, the actual "capture" usually happens so quickly - before anyone realizes what just occured!

Would you be able to do the b12 shots at home, since you're now an expert at injections? Just a thought as a way to save yourself some money.

Have a great day!!

Amy

Have a great holiday weekend PeterDevonMocha!!

Jetta has added a lovely blue to her sunny start!

Hi Melissa! I can just picture wearing tube socks on my arms. ohmygoodness. Thanks for the morning giggle! Jetta has no claws, so that's not our issue, she just manages to spread herself flat and do a spiderman thing on the door opening of the crate. I need octopus arms to get her 4 legs all stuffed in at once. It's a riot!

Hi Amy! That's a great idea on the B12 shots. This might be her last one though. I pre-paid for 4 and we were going to re-evaluate whether or not she needed a course of 6 versus 4. But if it's 6, I'll definitly ask! And I also get the carrier out in advance. It's been out since yesterday and so far the one most disturbed by it is BLS (bratty little sister- 5 month old kitten Olivia). I think her spay is too recent of a memory for her to fogive the evil crate yet!

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268 +2 133

Good Luck at the vets!! Lovely start for Ms Jetta......we shut every door in the house so Zoe can't go anywhere...as soon as the doors start closing she KNOWS what is coming....poor thing!

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268 +2 133

That +2 is a pretty big drop..getting a +3 would be a good idea!

Poor Olivia...I don't blame her for being a bit edgy around a carrier  ! One of my civvies LOVES the carrier. I had it out earlier this week to take my senior, Mario, to the vet. As soon as Mario got back from the vet, Zen moved into the carrier before I had a chance to put it away. He looked so cozy in there that I ended up leaving it out for 2 days so he could use it for a "nap cave"!

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268 +2 133 +4 72

Hi Amy, Jetta always drops like stone at +2. It's just her way of doin' things. I know it's early yet, but I do think she's liking this new dose :RAHCAT If nothing else, her mombean sure likes it!!

Re: 9/1 Jetta AMPS 268 +2 133 +4 72

Trix is usually big +2 dropper, too, especially in the early days. I still occasionally grab a +3 after a big +2 drop, just in case, but admittedly I'm usually pretty comfy that she'll level off (for the most part) by +3, too.

I hope all went well with the vet visit!

Jetta's trip to the vet went well. I had her trapped in the bathroom when I came in with the carrier and she went right in. She bellowed like I was disembowling her though. I had to laugh. She has gained more weight! YAHOO! She was 5.1 pounds at her very sickest. Last Thursday she was 6.1 and today she's 6.7. Much better! We got a refill on her Budesonide.

She staged a hunger strike today against everything but her favorite FF flavor- Chicken and Liver. Seems to me she'd get sick of it, but then again, she ate the same dry kibble for 13 years and never protested. Guess I'll be at PetsMart tomorrow stocking up. She vomited about 5 pm today, I'm guessing combination of emtpy stomach (reference the hunger strike) and stress of the vet. She seems fine now that she has her face buried in her dinner.

Have a good night all- hoping I won't have a need to be back on here later...

That's hysterical about getting her in the carrier! Have you tried putting the carrier on end and then dropping her in? That seems to work pretty well for us.
