We had an uneventful night.
I fed Frisky 1/8 cup of EVO dry in the bedroom with the door closed, just before bed, so DC couldn't get it.
He ate it in seconds and looked at me for more. That was all he got.
This morning I put out wet food for both of them. Frisky hasn't touched his of course.
I'm off to the store to buy different flavors, maybe some different brand.
I've tried Friskies, Fancy Feast, President's Choice and Special Kitty, EVO, and Wellness, duck, venison, chicken, seafood, salmon, beef, turkey.
I don't know what's next, but I'll look.

Hi Noreen...uneventful is nice sometimes, no? You are doing a great job with this transitioning thing. What a pain! It sounds like Frisky is a little stubborn one, huh?
So, this is your 9th day on this dose and the 5th day of wet (mostly) for DC...
That is a very sunshiny SS you have there!

Re: 9/1 DC AMPS= PMPS=142 Food Question??

I was gone for 12 hours today. Came home to blue. Yay
DH was home to feed DC twice, but he won't do a BG test. He's scared of needles. He won't even stay in the room when I test DC or give him his insulin.
I'll have to work on that.
Frisky hasn't eaten anything since bed time yesterday. I tried to give him some wet salmon flavor when I got home, he just looked at it.
I put some on my finger and put it on his mouth and he wiped it off on the kitchen wall. He's been following me and crying since I walked in the door.
He's also lost a 1/2 pound in 2 days. I'm not sure if that is too much or not. He now weighs 14 pounds, which is what the vet said he should weigh.
I'm at my wits end with which type of food to try next. I'm going to try to feed him some Friskies chef's dinner next, but I don't have high hopes that he'll eat it.
Should I not feed him any dry tonight and try wet again in the morning? Or is 36 hours too long for him to go without food?

Re: 9/1 DC AMPS= PMPS=142

I think I've been told the absolute cut off for going without food is 48 hrs. But I don't know if I could do that. Maybe you could just feed less tonight. 24 hrs seems like long enough to me, but then again going 36 probably wouldn't hurt him.

Re-reading my post - it probably doesn't help you at all, does it?

36 hours is way too long to go without food.
Are you talking about DC or Frisky?
Did you try tuna and tuna juice?
Kitties need to it, especially diabetic kitties.

Keep trying an assortment of flavours. And unfortunately, dry if you have to.

Do you have any freeze dried treats like chicken? This can be crumbled into "dust" and topped on their food.

Re: 9/1 DC AMPS= PMPS=142 +2=139 Food Question??

36 hours is too long with no food. Cats can develop hepatic lipidosis ("fatty liver" disease) if they don't eat. You might find the information on Dr. Lisa Pierson's website on feline nutrition to be helpful. She has a section that addresses how to gradually transition your cat from dry to canned food.

Re: 9/1 DC AMPS= PMPS=142 +2=139 Food Question??

It's Frisky that won't eat. I'm following Dr. Lisa Pierson's transition info.
I fed Frisky some dry EVO before bed. He went about 26 hours without food.
DC eats the wet food just fine. I feed him 1/4 cup 3 or 4 times a day.
I removed all the dry food so DC doesn't steal it from Frisky.
