8/9 Savannah pmps 128, +1 149, +2 170 guidance pls

She enjoys messing with me. So here we are 12 hours later and she's 128. Do I shoot? I had her eat some more of her regular food and I can wait another half hour and test again too. Should I shoot a smaller amount like .25?
This was what was happening on Humulin too.






Grrr! I didn't do any spot checks thru the night just a +2 which was 328. I wanted her (and myself) to get some rest in case I need to increase this week.
I hope she comes down soon.

Savannah. ohmygod_smile ..we don't say "pretty in Pink" as far as the numbers go....I think you would look lovely in yellow or blue...
But, you do look nice in green too!

Our kitties are so much more than just their BG numbers. There is a quick way of indicating how well they are doing by listing if all the Ps are in place...you might have read this somewhere if you are visiting other condos....well...the Ps stand for
P=purring
P=preening
P=peeing
P=pooping
P=playing
Sometimes you will see someone say "all Ps in place" or "missing one P and waiting my the LB to see if that happens" or something to that affect. LOL. All the Ps are a sign that the kitty is doing very well indeed! :mrgreen:

Blue and green are in, yellow is nice too so get a new outfit soon please.

Please don't feed her.
Are you going to be home tonight to monitor?
Do you have strips and high carb food (wet) handy?

are you home tonight to monitor? Have plenty of test strips and some high carb wet food? And what is your schedule like, what would be the latest you could shoot tonight and still shoot at +12 after that in the morning?

If you are going to be home, and got all the equipment of the Diabetes Superhero, here are some options.

1) shoot
2) shoot
3) shoot

kidding.... but don't be scared of the greens. Greens are good. Rebound from the last green is breaking and it's a good thing.

You can control the sugar level with the food... and as a bonus, you can collect data to see how Savannah does when you shoot a blue PS. You are there, you can monitor and you are in control. Shoot, feed and get a +0.5 hour if you want - Again, if you are going to be home.

Okay I will shoot since I will be home. I have my "gravy" ready this time instead of the dry stuff. So, if I shoot a half hour later tonight, I will have to do the same tomorrow, right?
If in the middle of the night she goes to 40 is that when I should give her the gravy?
How often should I check her tonight, every hour or should I let it depend on the numbers?

First, breathe!

Get a +1. If numbers are lower than your PMPS, get a +2 (if they are less than 100, get a +1.5). Depending on what you're seeing at +1 and +2, it will give you a sense of how the rest of the cycle is going to go. In a "perfect" curve, you have a food spike at +1 and numbers are back in the vicinity of your pre-shot test at +2.

Once you have those numbers we'll go from there.

Hi again,
I gave her the shot at about 8:15 (Boston time) and tested her right after. At 8:30 (so I guess +13) she was 141. Now at +1 she is 149.

So I will test her again at +2 anyway. Thanks everyone for being here!!!!!

One more stupid question, in case I need to give her the gravy, do I actually give her the liquid part or am I actually giving her the food?

Bedtime for me is umm...well, like, now...I know pathetic, but I can wake up in another hour and test her. What would surfing range be?

Regarding "gravy" -- It's hard to not give at lease some of the solids (unless you dump a few cans of food into a strainer and separate out the gravy). What you try to do is not give too much food if you are bumping up numbers. The gravy is where the carbs are so you want to use that. What I typically do is give a bite or two of LC food and top it off with gravy. How much of the gravy depends on how low numbers are. If numbers are really low, I will give just HC food -- a little bit of the solids and lots more gravy.

I regard it this way. The LC helps to keep numbers surfing. The HC brings BG numbers up but it doesn't stick around for long. The combination helps to keep numbers raised once the HC begins to wear off.
