Gus is doing great this morning. His new vet telephoned yesterday to discuss his recheck labwork. He put him on Datril for 3 weeks with a scheduled recheck blood and urine at that time. The vet was in his office on a Sunday because, one Sunday per month he runs a spay/neuter clinic and charges $55.00 per animal. He feels that by lowering the price, people who would normally forego the procedure, will opt to have it done. He also takes part in a trap and spay/neuter program involving feral cats. He does the surgery for free and releases the cats back to their habitat with no ability to reproduce. This is the vet that I've been looking for my whole life. We're blessed. Finding this man takes a load of worry off my shoulders regarding Gus' quality of medical care.

so glad you found a good vet! i went back looking for gus' appt report and can't find it - what's the datril for? yay for a vet that does his job because he's committed to animals! that's so awesome.

I was mistaken. The AB that Gus is on is BAYTRIL, not Datril. Baytril is a broad spectrum AB that Gus will be on for 3 weeks, followed by a recheck of his blood and urine. Datril is similar to Tylenol. Sorry about the mistake.

Thank you so much for the info on the raised dish. I never even thought to check the dog aisle!!! I don't know why since Champ seriously is bigger than most small dog breeds!!! I'll be looking for one as soon as I can get to the store!! And I have a Petsmart close by!!

Gus' numbers look pretty good at +3. I hope he decreased just a bit more for you and then cruised!!
 
WOW (!!) on the vet - how fortunate to find him. I have the feeling he is one who genuinely cares about the animals and their well being. Very nice on the spay/neuter at a reduce rate - and yay on the feral work. That is just really great.

Gus - pink for you today? Thinking yellow or blue maybe? I hope all goes well for Gus wit the recheck when he goes in for that.
