AMPS 332
Not going into work today and taking him to the urgent care. His scabs are still bad, he’s thrown up twice in total since yesterday at about 4pm despite giving him a 1/2 pill of Cerenia yesterday, I’ve also noticed a lump on one side below his ribs, I’ve noticed when he’s sitting up, he’ll like lean or sway from side to side a little bit and almost have to catch himself from falling, also, he’s been limping on the leg that all those scabs are.

I can also guarantee this vet visit is going to wipe me completely out of any extra money I have, I hope not, but if so, it’s worth it. The throwing up daily and the scabs on him is still so concerning and I know something is wrong. First he gets diabetes, then the throwing up, then the open wounds on him, now the other things :(:(…. Poor guy. This has been the most stressful last couple weeks of my life. :banghead: Also based off his numbers from yesterday, I’m increasing his dose back up to 1.50 as of this morning

Update: got back from the vet about an hour ago. The vet basically said that he highly thinks he must of been having an allergic reaction to the food I was giving him, I’m assuming it was the food that was fish flavor? the scabs and throwing up kind of started when I switched him over to only fish flavor food.

So he told me to start him on the prescription diet from Royal Canin select protein PR. It was $100 for only 24 cans!!!!! I’m suppose to give him 1 1/2 cans per day..so that’s only 16 cans than I have to get more. But I can’t afford $200 a month on food. The vet also suggested the Instinct brand, the rabbit flavor, which is way less expensive and more accessible to me. The Royal Canin, I would have to order on chewy or something, but the Instinct brand , I can go to my local PetSmart and get.

I am not waisting $100, so I’m going to give him the Royal Canin food until it runs out then switch to Instinct.

Bubbas has also been limping pretty bad the last few days, I’m assuming it’s due to the scabs on both of his legs..but who knows. I told that to the vet tech, but the vet never addressed it :/ they had to squeeze me in between patients so I get only addressing maybe the two biggest concerns…I’m just happy he was able to see bubbas.

So we shall see how he does on this food. I am praying this brand and the Instinct brand works, hoping it’ll stop the scabs, which will stop the throwing up. He also told me to put him on flea meds, which it did last month but it didn’t seem to help..but I have two more months of the flea meds so mine as well use it up. I’m glad I didn’t have to spend a bunch of money today, only $200 which isn’t bad.

I just want my little man to be ok. The scabs and throwing up scares me even more than the diabetes. It’s sad to see bloody open wounds on my cat :(

I’m going to email the vet later and address the limping thing, and see if it’s due to the scabs on his legs. Besides all that stuff, the vet said he’s looking and doing well!

I'm glad you got some answers and that other than the food allergy Bubbas is doing well. At least you have some time to research cheaper food with the same protein while you wait for the royal canin to run out. I'm not sure the carb % of it.
There are brands out there that are limited ingredients like Instinct and Koha and others.

Yeah I am glad also! The appointment went better than I thought. I’m sure it’ll take probably a couple weeks to start seeing progress so it’s just a waiting game right now. And yes I’m going to start buying the Instinct brand after the Royal Canin brand is gone.

I believe that food is around 18% calories from carbs, so finding a lower carb alternative would be best for Bubbas. And possibly your wallet!
Yeah honestly it’s pretty high! It’s hard to not use this food due to it being so expensive so I’m going to use it until I get paid again on the 20th, but after that I’ll go to Instinct!
