We started insulin last night at 11 pm as I decided that was going to be the best time for me to ensure I will be awake and home to give insulin.

Today I had to wait until 1 pm to give his first dose as we did not have any testing strips. Am I okay to give him 1 unit of insulin around 11 pm again tonight? Or should I wait an hour, give it at midnight today/noon tomorrow, and then an hour earlier the day after to get me back to 11's?

We started the switch today, but he has been on wet food in the past. He only has his two bottom canines and sometimes has a hard time eating so recently I have been pulverizing his kibble (Fromm) and mixing it with water to create a gruel like soupie for him so its easier for him

You really should continue posting on the main forum until totally set up. One if the mods will transfer this post there. I have lots to say and many questions. You heed U100 syringes. Did you use the one for Vetsulin?

Cats need to lose weight very slowly, especially if obese, or or they can develop fatty liver. Go to catinfo.org and find her section on this. You will be able to calculate how many calories to give your cat to safely lose weight.

We have U100 syringes to use with the Vantus. I have not filled the prescription for Vetsulin as cost was a factor, and I was given Vantus for free.

Sorry for the multiple posts! I figured since this was a different question from the ones in my hello! post another post was appropriate

Wet low carb food will be better for him and help him to lose weight. The site I mentioned (cat info) Dr. Pierson has a food list as well although it’s dated. Usually you switch a cat’s good slowly to avoid intestinal upset.

You were given Lantus, right? It’s a much better one for cats. Vetsulin is a dog insulin.

Typically we ask you to start on main until you see totally set up and ready to move here. On this forum which I’d where you will end up soon we ask everyone to post one thread a day. On main you should stick with your intro for the first day. They tend to keep them going until they get really long.

You don’t need to test again until shot time. So 1:00 a.m. is a good time for you to give insulin? When do you sleep?

11 am/pm would be my preferred time to give insulin, but I gave him his dose late today at 1 pm.
When do I sleep? For the last couple days I haven't been sleeping because I've been so worried and anxious. I'm currently trying to get a sleep disorder diagnosed for myself so my sleep is all over the place

Welcome you might want to go to your signature you have vantus typed instead of lantus , tap in your name above then tap on signature and correct it and tap save

On your spreadsheet you also have typed vantus you might want to correct that
Also in your title above you need to put AMPS after Poppy's name
So it would be 8-6 AMPS-397
Look to the right and you will see the word Thread Tools tap that then tap on Edit Title and add that ,then tap save. You can go back and add PMPS there also on the same line

If you plan on posting on the lantus board from now on the your new post for today would be
8-7 Poppy AMPS# etc
We always link the previous days post to the new one
