All of the wonderful advice last night really worked. Harley dropped fast but with the honey etc, he coasted all night. I did not get much sleep last night, because Harley kept waking me up, running to the bedroom to be tested (and treats). It was almost like – test me and see how great I am doing. He stayed blue all night long…no real ups and downs.

But now, don’t really know what to shoot. I am home all day with exception of lunch with a friend. I think I will still shoot the skinny 3.75. Lunch isn’t until +6.

Will update ss after more ~O)

An ok day for Harley - stayed yellow for most of it but ending in the 300's. Will see what happens again on the skinny 3.75.

I think it's just so cool that you got Harley to surf the blues last night!

All those hours of beautiful blue, surrounded on either side by nice chunks of yellow...nothing too crazy...and It sounds like he was feeling pretty good too!

Pattie, whatever you did last night I hope you took good notes! And truthfully, I'm dying to know the exact details! Please share! ;-)

Everything crossed over here that the dose holds...

I hate to share because it is totally something people on the main board say stay away from. Even though I think it worked, I don't want to lead new people down the wrong path.

Re: 8/6 Harley PMPS 342, What I did last night

Great numbers for Harley last night and today! Hope he clears the bouncw quick and gets back to business!

I just don't want someone that has not worked with their kittie for as long as I have to try this.

Yesterday, Harley fell 196 points in about 2.5 hours. I did ask for lots of advice which was great but Harley is very sensitive to Karo and I did try a drop of honey. It worked but didn't last so I added kibble to a small amount of LC FF. I did that twice and it did seem to hold him over.

My thought was, the honey would keep him from dropping fast and the kibble would digest slowly and keep him at a certain point. Seemed to have worked.

Well I'll be....there's something fascinating about that...
I have no idea about what the down side of what you did is...I would like to hear opinions on that though..
So, what kibble did you use? Any idea how many carbs? Did you make note of the proportions/amounts of kibble and LC? You said you did it twice - at what +hours and in what amount?
And my big question - do you think you can you get similar results again, if needed?

I'm glad you skipped the Karo - I remember he had one serious Karo hangover after that wild night....Last nights results are certainly preferable!

It is FF dry - salmon and chicken. I did write down the amount and times (I will now put it on the ss). I did not give much..only about 2 tsp each time, mixed with about 1 tsp FF. I think it is too new to be on Binky's chart so I don't know what the carb level is...I would bet high.

If I had any of the EVO 95% chicken (7% carbs) I would have used that but used what I had. I would love to know what the down side is...maybe his going into the high 200's?

I think there is a way you can find out - by contacting the FF people - but I can't recall what the right questions to ask are...

The FF was LC, right? how many carbs?

I believe one general objection is that carbs from dry food are slower to hit the bloodstream and slower to leave. Could that be contributing to the pink? I honestly don't know.

The FF was 2% (beef). Someone gave the suggestion to write the carb level on the can top which I now do. I can call the FF people to see what they say about the dry food.

My reasoning was that it would hit the bloodstream slower and stay longer. Never thought that it might stay longer also contributing to the higher bg today.

I think Harley felt it was a treat. He never gets any dry unless he out smarts me and gets to his brothers food before I can remove it.

Of coarse not.
I think it's good to have an open mind to something that may work for Harley His brand of FD has it's unique attributes. As long as no harm is done to him. Finding the right cat care/life balance is important too.
