Good morning LL! ~O) ~O) ~O)

4 p's present this morning. Still missing the LB present, but am confident that will come later. Tarragon slept like a rock all night as far as I know since I did too. Seems like the last couple of nights finally caught up with both of us.

I really hope the strips I ordered get here today since I am running low. I got a great deal on ebay. 200 strips for $92 (plus 100 lancets). We use the contour meter.

That's a good idea about Ebay. I'll have to check on there, I'm going through these strips like crazy. Glad to see Tarragon is looking better today.

When I saw that HI he posted yesterday, I was like, "say what?!!" This is much more appropriate, Mr. T!!!

I check ebay every day to see if there's a good deal on strips. The last time I bought, someone was selling 300, as a Buy it Now, for $45!!. The expiration dates were 8/11 for five of the boxes and 9/11 for one box. I bought them at the beginning of July and they were gone by yesterday!! With the Aviva meter, I do seem to go through about 300 strips a month, but that's because it takes a larger drop of blood than my ReliOn and sometimes it takes four strips before I gauge the size of the blood drop right. And with that strip, you don't have any extra time to add blood if you didn't get enough the first time. I know Julie has a meter you can do that.

I get Aviva strips on amazon.com & search for the lowest prices--I have gotten them for $20 for a box, shipping is always expensive though..Have a good day--Hugs from us!
 
Patty - My Contour isn't too bad on the size of blood drop and I have gotten really good at not wasting strips. But the strips are soooo expense. Walmart wants something like $60 for 50. If you are getting your strips that cheap, maybe I need to invest in a new meter though since mine are still pretty expensive even at ebay prices.

Roni - Have you looked at Amazon Prime? It is actually a pretty good deal at $79 per month and you get free 2 day shipping on anything purchased from Amazon (not the private sellers though). Note to Patty! College students get it for free so we are using Mason's edu email address right now.
 
I'm probably going to be using my ReliOn much more often now because I just found out from Christie (from Christie & Willie) that the ReliOn meter, though a Walmart brand meter, has strips that can be found at ADW. I guess whoever makes the ReliOn meter for Walmart has the same meter under a different name and the strips are interchangeable. The ReliOn strips are already way cheaper than the Aviva ones, usually costing about the same as the "good deals" I find on ebaby, but the ones through ADW are even cheaper than that!!! Plus, when you go through Mr. Rebates, you get an additional 8% back!! It's such a win/win situation because you can get your lancets and syringes, etc., at ADW which will probably bring you up to the price you need to get the free shipping!! That's what I'm planning on doing this time around. Gots to save more wherever I can!!
 
Hi Melissa, so much better today for Tarragon with the "HI" yesterday! Go Tarragon. I get my ATrak strips thru ADW, and I've not tried going thru the Mr. Rebates yet, but I still get free shipping, and they come in three days. I put an order in this past Sunday, and Tuesday afternoon they were in my mailbox. Thanks for the tips in my condo on getting my neighbor's ballistic kitty into the carrier. I think we may need double socks on our hands and then a face mask, :!: if we need a Vet visit.
 
Ann - Those long tube socks work great and you may need two. :lol: We put the carrier in a bathroom, up on end, open the cage door, catch her, take her into the bathroom and shut the door and shove her in. She is really good at grabbing the sides with her back paws when she is almost all the way in. Sounds really inhumane, but she needs to not be such a crabby a&% about it. As DH says, she is just too sweet.
 
Much better start today, Mr T! So glad he cleared that nasty bounce so quickly!

I hear ya on the test strips. The last few days have been extra-pokey. I ordered strips from Diabeticcare on Tuesday and haven't seen them yet. I use the One Touch Ultra Mini, and the strips are outrageous if I have to buy them locally. I've thought about switching meters, but I'm such a creature of habit...

I like this AMPS MUCH better than yesterdays.....nice way to clear the bounce, Tarragon.

I buy my strips (Accu-chek Aviva) from ebay, too....although i have used Amazon....and you are so right, Melissa...I LOVE the Prime membership.....no waiting. :-D

Vast improvement over yesterday! More green to day Tarragon?

I don't know about other companies, but for my Maxima I can order a case directly from the company basically for wholesale cost. I pay $11 a box for 24 boxes and get free shipping. I get them in a few days. You should check and see if you can get a similar deal. It's more of an outlay at once, but I'm set for 4 months.
 
yeah, those strips are crazy expensive. after i got into it, i understood why everyone said it's the price of the strips that matters. the meters are just one time, the strips are all day long every day. i do have a freestyle lite and if you don't get enough blood you have at least a minute or more to add more blood to it. that part is awesome. the drop of blood you need is pretty tiny anyway.

wow on the rolling black-out. i know my cousin was going back to work today - she works in one of the high schools. wonder if they'll have their electricity out too? kinda hard to start your day with that!

glad tarragon's back on the planet. outer space isn't such a great spot after all!
 
Happy to see that nice number for Tarragon today after that scary HI reading. Strips are so expensive and for some reason, whenever I am running really low on strips, that is when Simon will turn his head the last second and waste a strip. And do it again and again until I only have 1 one left! That doesn't seem to happen much when I have a bunch of strips. Have a great evening!
 
Nice number for T today, much better than that yucky HI number yesterday.

I'm so jealous you all can get cheap-ish strips. We have amazon.ca here but all they sell are books, we don't have the same amazon as you guys, and of course amazon.com won't ship to Canada :evil: even eBay isn't really a deal once you factor in shipping rates to Canada. Anyhoo, I'm don't ranting now :lol: :lol:
