Morning LL! Last night Moonie was having trouble walking, even on her hocks..I had been trying to clean the litter off her leg earlier in the day, & again after dinner, and she fought & fought as she usually does, even though I am so gentle.--When she tried to get off the cat condo late last nite I saw her struggling to walk & I nearly died myself! After the vets(who knows what went on there with her leg & blood test, she was still Ok yesterday am--I must have aggravated it by clleaning her leg--Oh God please not another thing--I swear I cant take anymore!! I feel terrible & had to lift her up into the cat napper to test--OK so I always wanted to test her somewhere easier, but not this way--I am letting her rest today-
Last night I put a heated sock on her bad leg & thigh, and I think that helped a little--Will try it again later.

I will get her BW from the vet on Monday and I think it's time to talk about Adequan, or something that can help her--She surely has arthritis in her other knee for sure, but I had put it off a while ago when the other vet had mentioned it--Anyone using it have any thoughts?
Please send Healing thoughts for her--So much in so few days!! Poor girl, she wants to go all over, I took top off the smaller LB as it is lower opening--Praying real hard that this will pass--
Thanks, have a good Friday. Hugs from us!

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Hi Roni, so sorry to hear about Moonie's leg and sending healing vines and prayers. Do you think Moonie struggled at the Vet with BW and possibly hurt it that way, so hard to tell right now. Maggie's BW is available the next morning of her visit. Do you need to wait til Monday? Well, sending calming vines for you right now, too, as you've been thru so much lately. Hugs from us and scritches to sweet Moonie.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

So sorry to hear about Moonie! That is the last thing you need.

We use adequan on Charlie, our labrador that had acl surgery. It has been wonderful and really made a huge difference. I have heard really good things from people who have used it on their horses and cats as well.

Hugs from us. Hope you have a great day!

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

We use Adequan on our senior, Mario. He's 16 1/2, and his arthritis had gotten pretty bad. The cosequin helped him a bit, but IMO not enough. We've only been using the Adequan for a few months now (maybe even just 6 weeks - I'd have to look at the calendar), but it has made a noticeable difference in Mario's posture and how he moves, walks, and uses the stairs. I still don't see him jumping onto furniture, but he's reaching the age where that might not ever come back. But he seems much looser and more comfortable since starting the Adequan. When I got up for Trixie's AMPS this morning, I was halfway down the stairs when Mario came racing by me and beat me to the bottom! This was something he hadn't done in quite a while and it was a real joy to see! So the Adequan seems to be really helping him.

I hope Moonie's leg is feeling better ASAP.

Amy

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Poor Moonie.....I hope she feels better! I have used Dasuquin with Zoe and it helped tremendously with her arthritis for well over 2 years. It is a capsule that you open and sprinkle into food.....Zoe never noticed. I have a partially used bottle - if you want to try with Moonie, I'd be happy to send it to you....just pm me.

Have a good day....and feel better Moonie.....healing thoughts and prayers...and of course, big hugs. :YMHUG:

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

i was so hoping that Moonie would fell better this morning. If you know she has arthritis the stress of going to the vet could have aggravated it, but anything to ease the discomfort while she heals would help. I learned long ago that if I had over exercised, taking tylenol before going to bed, even if I wasn't sore yet, let me sleep better and recover more quickly. I hope the Dasuquin or Adequan will help her to heal up on her own. Is she getting anything now?

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Sending healing vines and prayers for Moonie. Sometimes the weather makes Gus' arthritis worse. Hope you find a way to help Moonie feel better. Keep us posted.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

As I have told you before, I have a great deal of respect for Adequan. It usually works well. I have several friends that us it on dogs, cats and horses with good results. I'm not sure why a lot of vets don't prescribe it for cats.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

(((Moonie)))

I used Adequan on Emily, and I have just started using it with Pinkerton. I am very happy with it.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Roni: sending MIss Moonie leg healing vines. Poor sweet girl!!!

We've used adequan, too. You start with a weekly shot and then taper off to once a month. The needles are larger, though, then the insulin syringe needles so they will seem HUGE but usually it is 25g. I think I would get her started as soon as possible. I really hope it helps her. I know you both have been through so much lately. Sending you hugs and caring thoughts.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Awe, poor Moonie. I hope her leg gets better very soon.

I use Adequan on my oldest Tommy (15 now) and he is like a kitten again a few days after his shot. We've taken to calling it his happy shot ;-)

Sending feel-better-leg vibes to Moonie.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

(((((Roni & Moonie))))) Sending lots of leg-healing vines today and we sure hope that by tomorrow Moonie will be fine again. She probably strained or pulled something at the vet's the other day. Sometimes with muscle things you get a delayed reaction: it's called DOMS: Delayed Onset Muscle Syndrome. Takes a few days to get better. Anyway, you've gotten lots of good advice on Adequan and I hope you will find it to work well for Moonie.

Sending BIG HUGS,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg hurt

Hugs to Moonie.

Also along with Adequan do what you can to prevent the jumping. Doggie stairs were a big thing with Maverick. He took to them immediately. Runners in the hallway on the hardwood not so much - he'd walk beside them every time. Raised drinking and food bowls so he could eat and drink standing up. DH custom made them so they were perfect height. And we even cut a hole in the foyer wall and built him a ramp up to a window platform so he could lie in his favourite window in comfort. The three cats here love his window ledge overlooking DH's remote control car/computer work station.

We also bought him a petsafe heated bed which was too small for him and he didn't take to it over his box. I didn't realize K&H made heated pads that I could have put inside a box or under one. Heat can help.

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218,+4~182 leg bit better

Hey I was at the DR. myself for my back & may have herniated disc, wouldnt be my first! Got cortisone shots so I'll be better tomorrow.
Moonie seems Much better than she was last night, not yet perfect, but much better-She can hop up on the couch, & get up on the cat condo which has steps up--That's progress!!
Still we will look into the adequan and keep her calm & quiet, so she can heal... She is actually pretty quiet for her, guess she is still sore..
Thanks for everyone came to my rescue to help us--Love you all so much!! Be Back Later--
Hugs & Lub from us!

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218 leg bit better

take care and rest lots!

Re: 8/5 Moonie AMPS 218+4~182,PMPS 222 leg bit better

Moonie was on the cat condo in our family room, and it was time for her test, shot & feeding, so I brought everything in there & did it all right there--So much easier than boosting her up into the cat napper, she's at my neck level, she has to jump down to the setee underneath it, and then to the floor--It's also in our bedroom--I didnt mind, but I was afraid now that she might try to jump up & could hurt herself!!!

This mad it easy so I will try to make it our new testing & shooting place--Knowing her, she's so stubborn, she'll probably want to go back to the bedroom, but maybe this will work out--
I'm sitting on ice packs--She & I both have bum legs right now ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile @-) cat(2)_steam
Tomorrow will be a better day!! Hugs from us..
