Good Morning!!!
Today is holiday here, so I slept in!

Yesterday's condo

8/4 AMPS=103; +2=88; +4=106; +6=115
8/4 PMPS=70; +1=103; +2=124; +5=169

8/5 AMPS=142; +2=94; +3=88; +5=115
8/5 PMPS=63; +1=88; +2=95; +4=110; +6.5=148

Lucy is doing good.
Last night, her number went up, maybe from the stress at the vet, and this morning AMPS was a little high for her on this dose, but she is coming down.
Her poop was soft this morning, but her appetite is not bad.
1st and 3rd breakfast by hand-feeding, but she ate the 2nd one by herself.

I'm going to give her her monthly Vitamin B-12 shot later today.
Last month, I shot her an expired B-12 without knowing, and she got sick.
(I can't believe it's been a month!!)
The vet thought expired B-12 wouldn't be harmful, but just not be as effective.
She thought Lucy might have developed some kind of allergy to one of the ingredients.
My plan was to try one more time before I stop giving it to her, so I guess we'll find out today!!

Hope everyone's having a nice day!

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88

Hi guys .. numbers are definitely looking nice! I hope the B 12 shots help her and she doesn't have any allergies from it .. have a great day guys!

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88

Hi Mariko - Lucy is looking great today!!! I'm glad all went well (as can be expected) with her vetty visit last night, and hopefully the B12 injection will go smoothly.

To answer your questions about Wellness from Trix's condo...to be honest, I'm not the best person to answer  ! Ann&Maggie and probably Marje as well as a few others know more about the Wellness switch than I do. There was some funkiness/inconsistency between batches made in Canada vs batches made in the US...some kitties liked one more than another, sending the beans on wild goose chases, because the store that had the "good" food this week might have the "not so good" food next week. After many inquiries, several members here were told that (and this is where I may be wrong) that the manufacturing - I think - was going to be consolidated, or something along those lines. I believe we are starting to see the result of that. I don't know that the formula was necessarily changed, but given that the Canadian plant and US plant had differences between them, I could see this new production situation producing something that is different yet again, if that makes any sense. The others also know how to read the codes on the cans to tell where they were produced; I don't know how to do that, though. But, the reason I think we're on to the "new" Wellness is because the label itself is peachier in color - the old one was more of an orange. I also see a difference in the consistency...the food is a bit more "mousse-like" and fluffier, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Overall, I am not a huge fan of Wellness, because of all its inconsistencies and poor customer service, and I wish we could avoid using it, but Trix needs lower phos fuds now, and she either doesn't like some of the other options, or the other options don't agree with her BGs even though their supposed to be LC.

So that's all I really know....

I hope you guys are having a great day off!

Hi Mariko!!! Nice to read that Lucy's doing good and eating. If that soft poo continues, you may want to add a probiotic; I (along with many others) use this product: http://www.renewlife.com/ultimate-flora-critical-care-50-billion.html Have a great day & week :-D

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88

Amy,
Thank you for your explanation.
Strangely, I live in Canada, but I don't think I ever get "made in Canada" Wellness.
Maybe the Canadian plant is located in the East Coast, and the US Plant is closer to where I live? I don't know.
I did notice the inconsistency between batches, and when I questioned about it, their excuse was "because they use whole foods as ingredients, it can't always be exactly the same just like one turkey can't be exactly identical to the next turkey.
Maybe they change the source of their main protein ingredients... I don't know. Some turkeys are moistier than the other? That's what they mean? I don't know... I wasn't quite convinced.
But like you and Trixie, I'd like to feed Lucy low phos foods because of CKD, so I don't have much choice either......

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88;+5=115

Lucy is looking good today. Good luck with the B-12 shot. I hope she doesn't have a bad reaction to it.

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88;+5=115

Hi Mariko! Lucy's numbers are looking so nice! Hope her tummy settles down soon. Sending lots of feel-good-tummy vines.

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88;+5=115

Hi Mariko & Lucy!

Lucy's numbers sure look good! Sorry to hear about Lucy's previous B12 shot - who would've known an expired vitamin would've caused that kind of reaction. Hopefully this one will be ok for her. Keep up the momentum, Mariko!

We've used Wellness Complete Turkey/ Salmon for quite some time - the only time I noticed an inconsistency with that variety was when I purchased locally (was darker & dryer) vs. online. We only recently started using the compolete chicken & turkey varieties, so other than to say their consistency was thicker than the T&S, I can't weigh in on that subject. I have some cats that like the salmon & some that don't & will only eat the chicken. Most seem to prefer the salmon formula, though.

HI Mariko, Lucy looking so good, glad she ate 1 of her breffis by herself, My vets and pharmacist say pills can be OK if Exp but ointments and liquid no, not to use. sending Lucy some snowflakes

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88;+5=115

Another great cycle for Lucy today. I hope it continues.

We can get the made in Canada Wellness here. The smallest3 oz cans I have are made in Canada, but the 5.5 oz are made in US. I can't remember if the tall cans were US or Canada, I don't have any in the cupboard. I seem to remember that one of the issues with Wellness is that they'd be distributing from just one location, so there would no longer be consistency with what type of cans you could get. It would all depend what side of the shelf they pulled from when filling an order.

Re: 8/5 Lucy AMPS=142;+2=94;+3=88;+5=115

Thank you all for your visit!
Wendy, I never noticed the small cans are made in Canada, because I already buy 5.5 oz cans!
I should try the small cans to see if Lucy likes it better!

It seems the B12 shot today went OK. Phew!
I think I'm going to continue with the monthly shot for a while more, although to be honest I can't really say if it's doing anything at all. :-|
Maybe I will add a test to check her B12 level again next time we get her blood work done (just had one yesterday, but didn't think about it), and see if the dose is right.

She surprised me with the low PMPS number, 63!!!
I didn't test her after +5 earlier today... it would have been good to see how she curved.... but I was cuddling/napping with Lucy and didn't want to ruin the lovey dovey moments by poking her.
It seems to me, she likes to have a sad-face curve, not a smiling-face curve.
It's the lowest preshot number I have actually shot. I thought about stalling, but I decided to go ahead since I can test & monitor her to keep her safe tonight.
Plus if I stalled and she gave me a lower number, I'd be too scared to shoot and I really didn't want to skip.
So... I went ahead and shot. I'll be getting a +1 and a +2 for sure.

Today was supposed to be a non-prednisolone day, but I gave it to her by mistake. Mad at myself. :-x
It's Monday but feels like Sunday because of holiday, so I got confused when checking the fridge-magnet calender to check!

Re: 8/5 Lucy PMPS=63;+1=88

Good job shooting low! You're doing great!

Don't you just hate that when a holiday throws off your sense of time? I was off by one day a whole week one time. Kept missing my appointments :-D

Re: 8/5 Lucy PMPS=63;+1=88

Lucy's looking quite cute in her blues tonight! Congrats on a good b12 shot. Hope she doesn't create any drama tonight, but a nice surf!!!! Sleep well, Mariko!

 +6.5=148
Don't know where this number came from......
Giving her a bedtime snack, and we're going to bed.
Good night!
