Going to get the hairball control wet food today, and giving him an oatmeal shampoo bath again for the 3rd Saturday in a row to hopefully help his itchy and scabby skin. God I pray this helps. My little baby can’t catch a break for the last couple weeks with the daily puking and the dermatitis. :,(

also decided to give him 1/2 tablet of the Cerenia this morning. Hoping he doesn’t have bad side effects from that. Haven’t read really good things about it, since it’s made for dogs. Does anyone on here have a good or and experience with it? I got one positive review so far, which made me give him 1/2 the tablet. But I want to see if anyone else has had good or bad reactions to it.

Hi Katrina, I don't have much knowledge to offer here except that I have used cerenia on Cleo when she vomited. I think that if you're worried, then a vet visit is definitely in order. I'm thinking of you and Bubbas :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Do you give it to your kitty once and the throwing up goes away? Or how often do you give it to them? Every day?
They gave me 4 days worth. But I’m only doing 1/2 the pill daily so that’s only 8 days. Abs bubbas vet visit isn’t until the 17th of this month

It was a very long time ago and very early in Cleo s dx so I don't really remember :(.
You can try searching the forums for cerenia. It's in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Thank you for checking in! He is doing well today. He’s puked once threw out the night than once this morning. Praying that’s all it is for today. I didn’t didn’t end up taking him in, but if he pukes more than I will

they told me to give him one whole tablet a day for 4 days, so they gave me 4 pills. I only gave him 1/2 tablet this morning and he seems to be doing well, no bad reaction that I’ve noticed!
I also went out and bought hairball specific wet food. Praying it works!
 
I suspect the “hairball specific” food may be loaded with carbs. Most “special” diets are. Hence the higher numbers. The Proplan also has fish in it, if that is an allergy. Plus it has cellulose, ie. paper.

Cerenia can be given daily long term, Neko was on it. It is also dosed based on weight of cat. How much does Bubbas weigh and what size are the pills? They come in different sizes. If is is working, a smaller dose may be OK, but be aware he might need more. Cerenia is a drug that has been given to cats for years. The box just hasn’t had labels updated.

So I did the math and according to the flavor I got for the hairball food, which was the chicken pate, it only had a couple carbs in it. I just gave him his first round of that new food for dinner, and PMPS was 429 (before the hairball food) and now it’s +2 is 414. So it barely went down.I bought 24 cans of that stuff so I hope my calculations weren’t wrong. I got another 24 cans of fancy feast natural, but I accidentally got it “in gravy” :banghead: but I did the calculations for that food too and the carbs are pretty low. But wow I had no idea they put paper in the hairball wet food…that doesn’t sound good.

I’m going to return all the food I got today, and go back to the fancy feast classic pate’s , but I’m going to get the chicken and beef flavor, no more of the fish flavor.

And he’s about 13 pounds. The pills are 16mg each? Or whatever the measurements are. But I only gave him 1/2 the pill this morning. No puking yet this morning since I gave it to him.

If you’re ordering from or browsing the Chewy website (before visiting your local store), you can scroll through the pictures on the product page to find the ingredients list to see if fish is listed in it.
From what I found,

You’ll have to look up which ones from the above are LC (Dr. Pierson’s food chart), although I think most of the FF classic pates are LC.
I might have missed out on some other non-seafood FF classic pate flavors above.
