Good morning, everyone!
Happy to report that Willie is back off the juice... We restarted him on BG Turkey on Tuesday night, and by Wednesday he had a reading of 88. I stopped insulin just to see what would happen... He crept upward and I was having a moment when I caught a 132 one evening... but decided (probably arbitrarily, I know) that I wouldn't give him insulin until he got over 150. The next morning, he was back down to 92 and has been right around 100 ever since.
I do suspect the food change was the problem. Willie is a scarfer when it comes to fuds he really likes. On the Blue, he was eating twice as much food a day, and he'd scarf it down as soon as the bowl went down. He and Herbie generally eat around a can of BG a day. So now, with their BG, they get 1/4 to 1/3 a can of Blue or other tastiness to motivate Willie to eat when food is given, but then eat his fuds more slowly throughout the day. When we eventually have to change foods due to Merrick's discontinuation of the BG line, we'll have to work the morning schedule so that we can feed them smaller meals. My Petco store is supposed to be getting Nature's Variety Instinct Raw this week so I plan on trying them on that as well.
It's a rainy morning here in KC. Willie had some outside time after breakfast while Herbie had a crazy burst of energy that had her crying around the house until she found a toy to play with. Thankfully, Mr. Mousie fit the bill.   Now the kitties and I are curled up in bed with Herbie giving Willie a bath so he'll let her cuddle. Still makes me laugh... I know Miss Belle trained her on that one.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
