8/4 Oberon AMPS 241, +2.5 365, +6 286, +9 408, PMPS 385, +4 195, +5 142, +6 97, +6.5 115, +7 105

Every time I think I've got him figured out he changes the pattern. Still, he just dropped 80 points, so who knows... maybe he's just running a little late today.

Maybe he is breaking a bounce (quickly) and coming back down. Hope so. Wanted to ask you a question. How did you get the name Oberon? There was a famous actress named Merle Oberon from the old days and I always think of her when I see your posts. Do you call him Ob for short?

Do you put a lot of emphasis on trying to read the patterns?
It's something I did a lot with my own cat, and I encourage people to do the same with their own cat. Being somewhat predictable gave me more of a life outside FD. And it helps you decide when you really need to test or leave food out. Remember that patterns usually go over several cycles. One of the previous mods, Libby was really experienced in reading spreadsheet and she described it as waves of action. There was a pattern Neko did on Lantus over 3 cycles that gave me a heads up she was planning to dive the following cycle. So if it was night time (usually was ) I'd get an afternoon nap in or get to bed early knowing I'd be setting alarms overnight.

I struggle with picking up on patterns but looked at Susie on 7/14 today and saw some similarity. Sure enough, even though it was a long time ago, she kind of followed that pattern today. She nadired on 7/14 at PMPS. It is all still a mystery to me. You are fortunate that you could read Neko's patterns. Maybe, in time, I will do a better job.

Lisa has done a lot of work looking at Oberon's data. He's quite a bit more complicated due to the IAA factor, but if you look at his spreadsheet, you'll see lots of BG data plots. Those graphs can help you see patterns in data. Try a couple weeks worth, and see if you can spot patterns.

He's named for the Shakespeare character (also a moon of Uranus). Sibs are Puck and Ariel. (And now Freya- new naming pattern now!) So he's King of the Faeries. Or at least the household.

One of the most useful things I've added to my graphing data sheet is a column that calculates how fast he's changing over time (BG points per hour). I can do it in my head, but it makes it easier/faster to spot the start of a dive.

And speaking of dives... looks like that bit of R this evening might have done the trick. Might be a late night. And on top of that, Puck goes in for a dental cleaning tomorrow and isn't supposed to have food overnight. This could get interesting.
