I wish I knew what Nikki's BG was prior to FD. It's crazy that I went from worried about her blood sugar being to high to being worried that it's too low! She seems fine...she eats, she runs around after Dee like a lunatic, she does all of her "Nikki" stuff. I have to call the vet tomorrow about her being off insulin anyway, I think I'll see what he thinks. I've tested her on both her regular and back-up meter, although they are both Glucocards. Maybe it just reads off at low numbers? Has anyone ever experienced this??

:RAHCAT YEAH NIKKI!! :RAHCAT
DAY 4

The 39 is wonderful! Without insulin, that's a sign of a working pancreas!! Congratulations!!

Thanks Chris! She's very happy she only has the pokey pokey 2 or 3 times a day now! I just figured she'd be in the 50's, not the 30's!

Alexis,

The meter is probably pretty close to reality. 40-120 is the range of normal. It could just be that Nikki was always a cat that ran towards the low end of the normal range?

I've seen others post that their non-diabetic cats sometimes test in the 30s.

She seems fine...she eats, she runs around after Dee like a lunatic, she does all of her "Nikki" stuff.
As long as you keep seeing that, I'm thinking you're in a great place, and there should be lots of    around your house.

Thanks Carl! I think I'm just transferring my constant anxiety over her numbers into our new lives!  I really need to stop that!

We are very, very    around here!

Yay Nikki!!!! In my experience (and it could be totally different for others), my alphatrak always ran higher than the human meters. If the makers of the alphatrak are correct that it is more accurate for an animal than a human meter (which is quite possible), then maybe her actual number is closer to 60, which, of course is still amazing! You are funny, Alexis - you're just like me - have to be stressing about something. nailbite_smile Try to just enjoy that her numbers are great and you don't have to give her insulin and worry she will go too low. cat_pet_icon

Dara, you know it! I have to learn not to worry about stuff that doesn't need it! ohmygod_smile

I feel like she's a bit like Bob these days, as she absolutely WILL NOT touch any of the raw food right now. It's driving me batty cause I just bought a 4 lb box! She gets plenty of canned wet, but I'm trying to give her a tbs or so a day to use it up.... ohmygod_smile :-Q

Hey little Nikki,
This trial is going quickly.
Already on day four,
Only 10 more.

:RAHCAT Go Nikki Go! Go all the way to OTJ!!! :RAHCAT

Another nice low green for Nikki today.
