Scooter is back on insulin as of today after a reading of 346 this morning. He has been slowly creeping up the past few days so I don't know if his teeth are bugging him or what. I gave him 0.5u and will monitor today.

Anyway things have not been going too well for me. I lost my sister to cancer last month, lost my job last week because I've been extremely sick lately, about to lose my place because I can't pay the rent, and that will result in losing my fiancee of 1.5 yrs as he will have to move back home to the USA. I don't even know if I will be able to keep Scooter and Charli because I will only be living in a 11x11 bedroom at my mom's house and I can't keep them both locked in there.

Life sucks sometimes, huh?

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear all this. I hope something turns around for you and you can keep your own place. (((Ry)))

Ry and Scooter,

Life does suck sometimes, but it will get better. Stay patient, stay strong, relax enough to feel better, and in time things will be balanced again. I really hope those 2 little sweet guys can stay with you. Take it one step at a time and take care of yourself first. Then you can help them. We are here for support if you need a friend.

awwww. It's never good when everything hits at once.
I am sorry that Scooter is back on insulin.
I would hope thought that you will be able to get him right back to remission after another course of torture.

I hope you mean losing your fiance because he has to relocate, not that he'd just leave you for misfortune.
If he'd leave you (for poorer) than he wasn't "the one".
I hope you can find another job and feel better.

I think it's just fine if you and your kitties are just in one room.
As long as they have a window, they can cope pretty well.

If you were getting married, why wouldn't you go with him?

Ry I'm so sorry to hear about the difficult time you have been going through. I will be praying for everything to work out with your health, your fiance, your job, a place to say and of course for Scooter to go back OTJ. Sending :YMHUG: :YMHUG: and healing vines for you and Scooter.

thank you all. it's frustrating, i feel hopeless and powerless to do anything about it.

no we would not split if he had to move back but i dont know how long i could endure being 3,000 miles apart. i don't have any desire to move where he lives (NJ), mostly because my family is here and i can't leave them. we have already discussed that. it's a tough situation.

So sorry everything is happening at once. I hope you are feeling better soon! It's extra difficult to deal with life issues when you're feeling puny. It's good that you have family to move in with during these tough days. I know it's not ideal (for any of you) but, it's nice that you don't have to worry about having a roof over your head. Since this will be a temporary living arrangement and I'm sure you'll be gainfully employed again in the near future, I hope you're able to work something out to keep those precious kitties!

I look forward to hearing things are going better SOON!!!!!!

BIG HUG -

Poor Ry

I know everything looks very black right now, as it would to any of us. Things will get better though and it will not be as bad as you are imagining. I'm sure the cats would much rather live in a small room with you than elsewhere without you and it is only temporary. Your fiancee could visit family maybe, and come back. Can't he help with an apartment? Or get a job there? You have to care for your health. When you don't feel good it makes everything look harder than it is.

Hugs,
Melanie & Racci

Ry --

I'm so sorry. It's miserable to have to deal with any one of those issues but to deal with them all at the same time.... You're plate is more than overflowing. FWIW, shortly after she was diagnosed with FD, Gabby contracted ringworm. If you're not familiar with it, it's a highly contagious fungus. Gizmo had been here only a couple of months and this meant that both cats were locked in my bedroom for an entire summer. It took that long to clear them of the ringworm and to keep my condo disinfected. My bedroom may be a little bigger than your room at your moms but probably not that much. The cats survived. Scooter and Charli are important to you and Charli is a gift from your sister. They will be a source of comfort. I hope your mom understands.

If Scooter is having dental issues, it can throw an OTJ cat out of remission.

I wouldn't be so concerned about keeping them together if they didn't fight ALL THE TIME. They got along really well to start but as time went on they can't even be near eachother without growling and chasing each other. It's disheartening.

Scooter's teeth have been a big issue for a while. I can't afford a dental right now. I have a rat who needs euthanized (cancer) next week and Scooter's dental is unfortunately lower priority than that.

(((Ry)))

Just sending you prayers. I am so sorry about your sister and all the other stuff. A door will open...it will.

Dear Ry,
We are all here for you. I hope that these troubles, which seem insurmountable now, will resolve themselves and that you will be able to get back on your feet. Many prayers for you, Scooter, Charli, and your Rat. Try to think positively.

Thanks again. Sometimes it's hard to find light in the dark.

I went to bed very early yesterday (around 7pm) and Ben forgot to do Scooter's PM tests/shots. I just tested him (7:30 AM ish) and he was at 70... probably a good thing he didn't get a shot, but I wonder how low he got earlier... I guess it's going to take a while for him to get back into the routine of doing shots.

Dont give up Ry!
A lot of people I know are in similar case like you. Yes there are hardship & challenges, but there are always ways to go around it. A 100 sq ft room is not as small as you think for your two precious. In HK we all live in very small space, I live with my 21 cats in a 600 sq ft apartment. Remember cat move vertically too. Plan ahead before you move them in. Put in shelving along the wall, they will love it.

How's it going Ry and Scooter? Bit worried about you guys. Check your inbox when you get a chance. Sent you a private message. Let us know if you need an ear.

Hi Ry and Scooter -

I hope you are doing alright; I know how rough it can get when everything goes wrong at once cat(2)_steam
