I had to force feed again - but she did nibble at a tiny bit on her own first - just not enough. When I force feed, I usually give her Wellness Chicken since she doesn't like it very much any way. I offered some Wellness Turkey Salmon mixed with water and she licked at it for a little while. Last night, after she dropped low, she did eat around 3/4 Tbsp of food (mixed with water) all by herself.

I gave her some more cypro this morning - maybe 1/5 of a tab or so. I debated giving the other antihistamine, but I want to give the cypro some time to build up and reach it's desired effect. Since she showed some interest in food, I don't want to stall any potential progress.

The dose I measured was right at the "0" line of the syringe (first line). I've measured this out before - I do get a tiny, tiny droplet of insulin from this measure - I can even go a little smaller by measuring just past that line if I wanted... I just have to hold the plunger in firmly and keep it in her for a few seconds before removing the needle - and not release pressure on the plunger until after it's been removed from her skin.

I noticed something last night and this morning - could be bad news... I don't know. Her nose is leaking again - but this time it's from the other nostril. Up until now - it's been the left nostril leaking or stuffy. Now there seems to be some involvement with the right. I tried to squirt saline into both nostrils this morning - I really have almost no luck trying to suck anything out with that bulb syringe, though...

hmm now it's switching nostrils? Oh Kasha what is going on with your nasal passages? I hope it heals up soon and you feel better and eat.

((Krys))

You are working so hard. I hope your vet gets some good info from the IM vet. I do wonder if he could call down to OSU (I think they have a vet school) and talk to an ENT vet.

Re: 8/31 Kasha AMPS 109

Yes...it sounds as if she would do well with other eyes on her situation....it's good that she showed some interest in eating a bit on her own last night...hoping that will keep on happening for you both. Kudos to you for taking such great care of Kasha.
((Krys)) I know this isn't easy but you are rising above it and doing a great job!

I agree .. you are taking excellent care of kasha .. I know it's hard and frustrating .. I hope your vet comes back with good news for you guys ..

Re: 8/31 Kasha AMPS 109

I hope you can get some help with the internal medicine speciality on board. Maybe he/she has some ideas your regular vet hasn't thought of!

Re: 8/31 Kasha AMPS 109

Fingers and paws crossed that the docs find a better solution and that Kasha is back to normal really soon.

I don't know if that's a bounce or what. I doubt she ate anything in the last 8 hours or so. I'm going to be gone longer tomorrow, so I guess this is just how things are going to be from now on. I force fed 2 Tbsp food. She's just lying in one of her beds now. I gave 1/4 tab cypro as well. I think.

I'm despondent, in case anyone can't tell. I am not patient and kind - I do not enjoy force feeding my girl. It makes me sad and angry. Which is how I feel most of the time now.

I have a nauseating headache as well. I can't function right now at all.

Hey Krys, Try to relax and do something not related to Kasha for an hour or so. I do so hope that the vets can figure out how to cure her problem. Do they make Neti pots for cats?
Sending you and Kasha all varieties of healing vines,

Ella & Stu
