Hello LL!!
Yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=124462
More coughing and more itching today! I am quite convinced that she is allergic to something that I haven't figured out yet. Our usual vet thought it was something in the antibiotic ointments, but I stopped the Neosporin over two weeks ago, and stopped the Polysporin over a week ago. I am thinking it's something in our environment- maybe dust mites? - or something in her food. I got some Zyrtec today and am going to try my luck giving that to her tonight.
On the dust mite theory, I'm going to vacuum the heck out of everything and wash all bedding this week. I don't know why a dust mite allergy might just be flaring up now, but who knows. My vacuum has a HEPA filter, and I vacuum the carpet at least every other day but could pay more attention to vacuuming the couch. I also read that eucalyptus oil mixed with water and a few drops of dish soap can be sprayed on couches, mattresses, etc to eliminate dust mites, so I may try that. There are pest control sprays like DustMitex, but I worry that they aren't safe for the cats.
I already scrubbed the bathroom and replaced my shower curtain just in case there was a mold/mildew problem/allergy, but that didn't seem to make a difference.
For the food theory, I am tempted to just feed chicken for a while, but I don't want to try too many things at once and not know what the actual problem is, so I'm starting with the dust mite theory. Time to clean!!
Chris and Elise, I didn't catch your comments until this morning but thanks for stopping by last night!!
