Hello!

So, Alphyne continues her ' no discernable' pattern path today. She definitely bounced this morning from the low last night, but now (again) I can't tell if she's still bouncing, or if her numbers are just high.

Apparently she can get in the semi-normal range, as it's happened several times in the last couple of weeks.

Anyone have thoughts for me? Thank you!

Bouncing again, it can take up to six cycles to clear out the higher numbers from a bounce. PM cycle of the 26th she hit green, bounced for six cycles, then slid down on the 7th cycle (clearing the bounce), got to nice low blues last night, then started another bounce. Sometimes it takes her a couple less cycles to clear the bounce, maybe based on how low she got to cause the bounce. She does seem fond of going lower at night.

Thank you! With her being sick, and starting new medication, and having to switch food, it has just been a roller coaster. She didn't seem to really be following her normal pattern... as in she doesn't hold low numbers for very long until she bounces back up… and with everything going on it was just causing me a lot of concern. Plus, the vet mentioned the C word at one point during one of her visits, and then I started seeing things that probably aren't there.

I appreciate the help...again. :bighug:

When Neko started new meds, I found it seemed to take a while before her body got used to them, at which point her numbers would settle again. The Glycobalance probably isn’t helping the situation cause it is so high in carbs. Too bad nothing lower carb agreed with her.

I agree. The Young Again caused gas and bloating which led to potties outside the box. The Dr. Elsey's (all flavors) caused vomiting; I think maybe it was the flaxseed? That's just a guess, of course, but the other ingredients are pretty standard with the other foods she's eaten. And honestly, in looking at her numbers, I think the Dr. Elsey's caused larger spikes (probably since it was upsetting her tummy). But I agree, I've got to find her something other than the Glycobalance. I'm working my way back through all the wet foods I've tried in the past, hoping something will work this time around. Fingers crossed!

I just hope I can get her back to at least under 300 on a regular basis. Her numbers, even back when we started insulin, rarely spiked into the 400s. She was doing really well for a while; down to 1U in April and no glucose in the urine. She just keeps going back up and I can't keep her stable. We are trying to rule out underlying causes, too, but with the limited resources in ND, it's slow going.

Did you ever find another kibble that works? I've fed YA for 4 months with horrid gas and pooping outside the litter box. She has swelling in her small intestine and I'm just finally piecing together that it's probably her cat food causing this problem! I ordered some Dr Elsey's rabbit kibble as she has never tried this so I don't know if it causes vomiting but she never vomits over food so I'm hoping it's good! She's so hungry and eats wet food but a wet food only diet is not possible for her sadly. So I'm trying to find something that just calms her tummy while she gets better and something she can munch on for years to come!

Unfortunately, no kibble that's ok for a diabetic. She's eating Glycobalance right now, but I need to get her off that. Sounds like your kitty is having the same issues mine did with the YA. My cat likes the Dr. Elsey's, but it doesn't work with her system. :(

In a perfect world I want to say she will only eat wet food but she seems to enjoy crunching on a few kibbles here and there! :) Definitely stopping the YA though!
