Happy Tuesday and first day of my semi-retirement!!!

Gracie girl decided to race her way down to green last night and then actually put the skids on and let herself have a nice, unmanaged surf. WOOT!! We had a cuddly, purry night in between pokes...her definitely getting more sleep than Mike and I did (Mike managed to get home last night late!!). She's been such a happy, playful girl this morning..all Ps in place. She's made the circuits around the house including our shower where she likes to pull up the drain cover and peer down in there as if something lives there     She's done that since kittenhood when I worried about her actually being able to fit in the drain....she was so tiny. I think she loves it when we are both home but I got that look this morning like "uh....mamabean...don't you have somewhere to be?". No baby girl....I'm home with you now 'cept Wednesdays!!! ;-) ;-)

So now I'm starting to wonder if the problem is TRULY not the dose but the doser. This dose is tough to draw consistently even with my magnifyer because I'm relying on getting the dose drop size the same as I squeeze out drops from the 1u line AND also try to put the plunger in the same spot on the 1u line...unfortunately, the lines are not always consistent thickness. I know we all deal with this. I keep trying to do the drop size like Ann does but it takes a huge drop to form on the bevel before it leaves it and I can't take her down by that big of a drop. Ann says that lev is more viscuous than lantus so that probably makes it easier.

So first day of semi retirement, I got up, did kitty routines, btb, got up, lifted weights, did yoga, ate breffis, took a nap, read my book. WOW!! And I'm actually excited about going to the grocery store this afternoon because I do not have to rush so I'm looking for something yummy to fix for dinner. I love to cook and so it's going to be fun to start cooking different things again and eating early instead of late like we usually do after I get in from work. I'm thinking this once a week working probably isn't going to last long

Have a great day!!! Hope everyone in Irene's path is drying out.

What a great nice for Miss Gracie! She is so sweet and is going to love having you home with her. I am really excited for you. Sounds like you already have a great schedule going with lots of naps, yoga, and reading sprinkled in. Yay you!! And to actually cook a real meal during the week. Wow. I am envious.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Re: 8/30 Gracie AMPS 156 +2 146 +3 132

what? you didn't waste 2 hours with a computer in your lap and then another hour on the phone? ;-)

i can well imagine dosing by drops would be really tough. i have no idea even what to suggest to help on it - the only thing that i'm thinking is if you can't really change one factor, can you change another? the other factor would be food, though, and you already tinker with that. not sure what you can do except what you are already doing.

re: your question about the jobs - i didn't even make the first cut on the job closest to me - apparently they REALLY wanted bilingual spanish. I said "i majored in french and can understand conversations in spanish" but it wasn't good enough. they did the first cut solely on that criteria, then drew interviews from there.

the other one that i did interview for - they were super nice when they told me i didn't get the job. the woman said multiple times that i should get on the substitute list so that people could get to know me. i thought that was secret code for "the person we're hiring is someone we've already tried out." which is understandable. at the moment the sub list is closed - no more applications for it. so . . . . i'm not going to beat my head against the wall. fortunately i don't have to work in order to eat and have a house. i can just be an, ahem, kept woman. it's working for me so far. i just feel like i "should" work - and i wouldn't mind something more interesting to do. of course, i could volunteer, but am not feeling THAT desperate to have something interesting to do. somehow the days get filled - as you will soon see.

btw, the perfect time for grocery shopping, imho, is 8am. they're done restocking everything but no one is shopping yet. that's usually when i go.

Re: 8/30 Gracie AMPS 156 +2 146 +3 132

WOOT on the life of a retiree! great isn't it??? It is so wonderful not to have to rush through everything, and having the time to actually focus on what one really wants to. For me it was such a plus to be able to work with Mannie, spend time with his cycles. well enjoy!!

Love the drain story - too funny. nice cycle for her last night. It is so great when they do it on their own. :-D

Good luck wit the dose. It is so difficult to be consistent when dealing with drop counting - the drops have to be the same size... I so suck at it, and dread the day when I have to truly deal with it. I so agree with the line markings on the syringes. BD's were awful - Monojets I have found to be more consistent, especially with the "0" marking: at least the plunger lines up with the bottom line when depressed. Good luck!

Gracie!! I'm backkkkkkkkkkk........ can I come and swim and stuff? my bean says she'll brush me and stuff so I'm not all vetty gross. see you?? ~~ Mannie

Re: 8/30 Gracie AMPS 156 +2 146 +3 132

Nice cycle for the sweet Gracie today. I have a lot of trouble, too, with the two drop dose and getting the two drops to be the same size. I start 15 minutes early before the shot practicing each time. I have the vial so plenty of juice in it for my small dose. It's great you're enjoying your semi-retirement.

:-D :-D :-D Ain't BTB wonderful? I did it too today. Nice blue surf after the greens last night too. Enjoy!

I just forced Jetta to look at Ms. Gracie's night last night. Hoping she'll understand that greens are good and there's no need to go racing downhill through them. Just saunter, relax and enjoy them.. Wonder if she got it? Glad you both had a nice day today.

Hi Marje, Your retirement sounds great! Enjoy your new life!! Nice flat blue cycle for Gracie today.
Thanks for visiting us during and after the hurricane. We finally got our houseguest on a bus. It had a flat tire somewhere south of Albany, but at least she is within striking distance of NY City!!

Have a lovely evening and have fun with all that shopping and cooking!

Gracie had one heck of a cycle last night!!! Not to shabby today either! I'm actually making dinner tonight too...though I'm sure it won't be as healthy as yours. I thinking along the lines of chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes, but I'll probably do a chicken stir fry so I won't feel so guilty (gotta get rid of the double D's!!).

I have to say, don't ever doubt the great job you do, with your family and your cats. You have four cats, all needing special attention, and you do an absolutely terrific job. I don't know how you did it with a full time work schedule, especially when Mike's away playing working. Personally, if it wasn't for you, I know I wouldn't be handling this as well as I am. You keep me sane. Talking with you lets me stay normal, for real, especially when we talk about nothing!!! You're an excellent friend...one of the best I've ever had!! One day we WILL sit across the table from one another and raise a glass!!!

Re: 8/30 Gracie PMPS 186

WOW....lots of great posts today while I was goofing around    I've already got the "don't want to go to work tomorrow" attitude ...that didn't take long

Interesting cycle for Gracie today.....she went down, she came up, she went back down, and then she came up....but in reality...she stayed pretty flat. So I"m anixous to see what she does at +2.

Melissa: oh she is the sweetest baby girl. It was a busy day but nice just to be around.

Julie:   on the computer! Today I refused to turn it on until I had all my exercise and my breffis done or else I get back here and don't get that stuff done. You go to the store at 8 AM???? I am not a morning person....I mean I'm a happy person in the morning but I'm not a get out of the house early kind of person. Sorry about the second job...the one you wanted. I hear you on being a "kept" woman. I've almost always worked over the years and so I think that is going to be a big change for me.

MIchelle: yes WOOOTTT!! So far it just seems like I'm playing hookey     I'm glad I'm not the only one that is dosing challenged.

Ann: when I'm drawing up 1u, it takes me just a few seconds, but like you, I"m taking more time with this dose.

Natalia: thank you!!! Can you believe I got a btb AND a nap??

Ann: yes....btb is wonderful....on the catio no less.

Jaclyn: well, I'm glad you picked last night's cycle and not some of her other ones where she came down like a freight train. Used to happen ALL the time.

Beth: thanks! Yes...Gracie, Tobes, AND Mike!!

Ella: bummer on your friend's bus getting a flat!!! So she had to wait to get back to the city??

Patty: well, I feel the same way about our talks. And thanks for your words about our cat care.....I appreciate it more than you know. Your positive, upbeat attitude helps me immensely! Hope you made the chicken fried chicken. I made meat loaf (Cooking Light recipe that is awesome), two-cheese potatoes (Cooking Light), and steamed green beans. Yum....and one of Mike's favs.

Sienne: It's nice to see these two girls do that as they are either diving or bouncing!!

Liz: thanks for visiting...I know you must be swamped!!

Roni: I know I'll never be bored. There's always something to do! I have my own "honey do" list but it's for me instead of Mike!

So I'm headed to bed shortly.....I do have to work tomorrow. But then I have my 6 day weekend. Diggin' it!! Have a great night.

Re: 8/30 Gracie PMPS 186 +2 164

this is sounding like you're going to enjoy retirement just fine! an entire day gone by and you don't want to go back to work already!

hope that magnifier helps with the dosing. it's gotta be hard to be drop-counting!

sleep well tonight!

DH here - Looks like the blue surf is over. I can't believe she is bouncing. Maybe just running low on juice. Who knows. If anyone does know, I'll pay real money for answers  So, guess I'll take advantage and head for bed. Night all.
