Happy Saturday LL!

Tigger's 8/2 Condo

Well, we had a rollercoaster night last night, Thanks Marje, Carl & Wendy for the support, hand-holding & propping up :YMHUG: ~O) ~O) ~O) but we're all still here! Congrats too to all the other  s who were PJ-ing it last night - it was active!

This morning's AMPS was 383 & @ +1/326 I think we're bouncing from last night's low, hope it doesn't erase all our gains!

But - for the first time since Tigger's dx 5/15, his urine glucose was NORMAL & not DARK BROWN!!!! flip_cat flip_cat flip_cat

So - I feel we're really making progress, & like Carl says, Tigger has a Mission now. Keep it up Big Guy!!!

To Recap:
8/2/13
AMPS = 327
+2 = 219
+3 = 194 (fed 1T LC (4%) Well C
+4.5 = 171
+6 = 138
+8 = 83
+10 = 71

PMPS = 72
+1 = 85 fed 2-3 tsp MC (9%) Weruva Green Eggs
+2 = 43 fed 2 tsp HC FF gravy + 1 tsp HC FF gravy 20 min. later (hard time feeding right after test)
+3 = 54 fed 2 tsp HC FF gravy 20 min. later
+3.5 = 58
+4 = 68 fed 2 tsp HC FF gravy 10 min. b-4 test - still hard feeding right away - have to strain gravy
+4.5 = 98 fed 2 tsp MC Weruva Green Eggs @ 12:50 right after test
+5.5 = 385 !!! Tigger!!!
+8 = 429

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383 Bouncing from last night?

"Tiggers bounce".

Maybe Winnie the Pooh was on to something ;-)

I think we're bouncing from last night's low, hope it doesn't erase all our gains!
Bounces don't set you back or erase anything. They actually show you that the "defense mechanism" parts of his system are working just like nature intended.

Bounces just "are". They go away on their own, and they tend to decrease in terms of frequency and magnitude as things get better.

that PM crew is fun isn't it??!!!! It sure does make the time go by a lot faster and easier when you have the support of some amazing helpers who supply plenty of humor with their instructions.....

I always like it when Tom earns a PM reduction.....but I am a night owl so that helps.

But - for the first time since Tigger's dx 5/15, his urine glucose was NORMAL & not DARK BROWN

isn't that the greatest!!!! I remember when that happened with Tom too. I thought FINALLY!! I used to test all the time and it was always instant...INSTANT...dark brown. and then one day...I thought..oh this is silly.....as if I can't tell by his numbers if he has urine glucose......so when you look at the strip that one day and it is normal.....THAT IS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT AND STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION CONGRATS TO YOU BOTH

I never realized that Tigger was diagnosed May. 15....that is when Tom and Tashie/Bern started using Lantus. Hope all our outcomes are happy and healthy cats....

Congrats on your first reduction!! you have both earned it

Yes, he does! But from 98 to 385 in 1 hour - that's a record for Tigger, I think! Hope he doesn't do REVERSE that fast! :o

That's REALLY good to know, Carl! We hadn't reached a good dose level prior to this, so I've always seen T. do high level after a bounce & assumed that was the trend. I guess it all depends on the fit of the dose.

Yes - & keeps me off the ceiling (mostly). Actually, I think the fear of the unknown is worse than actually going through it, because there's someone(s) there every step validating every action & decision....

yes it is!! I realize it can change ( & probably did as soon as he bounced back up to 429), but now I know WE CAN DO IT!!!!

Yes, Kelly - 5/15/13, but we had hiccups with the first 3 weeks on oral Glipizide (Thanks FDMB People AGAIN for getting us off THAT) & another 3 weeks on Prozinc - we started over on Lantus 7/1/13. Let's all go over the Falls together - SOON!!!!

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383 +1/326 +2.25/209 - Diving back down?

Tigger's +2.25 is 209, down 117+ from his +1/326.

I fed 4% at +1, & fed 9% at +2 - I'd like him to surf green again today, but not dive as deep as he did yesterday - feeding at +1, 2, & 3 is new for me, so we'll see if that has any effect.........

Am considering stocking up on more HC - the chunks I have don't have much gravy. Will wait till +3 & see where we are & hope it's not too late. Store is 1 hour round trip. Have 6 cans here + 2 cans of drained chunks, so am probably ok for another day+. Tigger can drop so quickly!

Maybe he wants to keep Tomcat company - just not at 22, PLEEEEEZ!

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383 +1/326 +2.25/209 +3/164

Update @ +3/164

Tigger didn't eat the (9%) I set out for him @ +2 :o The kids were extra noisy this morning & he was hiding further under the bed than usual.

@ +3, the kids had left, BG = 164, & Tigger scarfed up 2 tsp of (9%) Weruva Green eggs. We ate scrambled egg sandwiches right along with ;-)

Urine this AM was back to BROWN +++ or whatever  - went chocolate as soon as it hit the strip - expected since he went to 429 @ +8 last night. The urine patty was smaller though  Maybe we can catch a CLEAR BLUE tonight - that was like Christmas yesteday!

OK, time for a shower & outside to liquid fence the property. Deer have been surreptitiously eating the roses & fruit tree leaves & apples on the far side of the lawn facing AWAY from the house & hidden by the grape trellis - HA! Let's see if they like them stinky now! They can still eat all the fresh green lawn grass they want - its organic yummy!

Hope everyone else is haveing a great, stress free Saturday with happy purry sugar babies!

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383+2.25/209 +3/164 +4/119 +6/148 Food Q

Hi LL!

I have a food question re. feeding into a dive. Tigger has a tendancy to dive hard then skyrocket hard. Normally I feed him 3/4 can 4% @ PS.

Today I gave him 1/2 can +, then 2 tsp (9%) at +1 since he dropped more than 50, 1tsp (9%) @ +2 (he didn't eat much), & 2 tsp (9%) at +3. I gave him 1 tsp (4%) @ +4.

He didn't go green today - was I too aggressive with the feeding? Or would he still be coming out of the Bounce from last night?

Next time I'll try feeding only 4% @ +1, +2, & +3, but I was trying to avoid an early tank today.

Thanks for any input you might have! Time for me to get some I-) - last night was a long night!

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383+2.25/209 +3/164 +4/119 +6/148 Food Q

Hi Suzanne!! It can take up to 72 hours for a bounce to clear, so you just have to wait until it does. I've read a lot where smaller meals throughout the day may keep the BG more level, so you might do some experimenting.

Depending on how much he eats, maybe a bigger meal at PS times, and 2 small meals in between, at +4 and +8? I'm still experimenting with China since she's not a big eater (especially now that her body is more able to utilize the calories she's getting) and trying to find the best times to feed to keep her surfing the longest time. We just changed brands though (which she's eating MUCH more enthusiastically) so I'm hoping to get her down to 6 meals a day myself. It will also keep Tigger from being so full that he doesn't want to eat his gravy when it's really needed!!

I'll keep track if you get any other advice...I'm still working on it myself!

Good luck to you and Tigger!

Re: 8/3 Tigger AMPS=383+2.25/209 +3/164 +4/119 +6/148 Food Q

With regards to feeding, you'll have to do a lot of experimenting to see what works for Tigger. Some people do a feeding schedule by feeding PS, +1, +2 and giving a small snack +3, or even the same amount at +3 as they give at +1 and +2. Some people break up the feeding schedule and feed every 2 hours the same amount, or every 3 hours. You may want to try giving the same amount of food instead of giving a lot at PS, and then smaller amounts at different times. You'll find what works for him. Just experiment, and remember that it's all trial and error, and eventually something will work for him. Good luck!
