Morning everyone! Little did I know yesterday that I would be doing this this morning! I was so happy that they had this appointment available for his dental. Why put it off if he needs it? (but I HATE Dental Days!!!)

Poor little guy has gone through the motions with me at +8 and just now at +11 with the ear prick but guess what...no food either time! There have been the liquid pukeys a couple of times and now he is grooming himself, sitting next to me here. Raja has become invisible suddenly after I tested him and didn't do my magic with the food. She must know something is up so she made herself scarce. :lol: She is just too smart! They went together in March and she must think she is going too. He is oblivious which makes me feel worse. But I know this is important for him so I will toughen up. :mrgreen:

With the AMBG he has this morning, I am feeling so much better about bringing him in. It will be a long morning for him and without food, I feel so much better that he is at 203 now. I think I remember someone having to cancel a dental because the kitty was much too low by morning. This is perfect for both of us. :mrgreen: 203 Yay! We are supposed to be there between 8 and 8:30 am so I will be leaving in a half hour.

awww I am sure shadow will do just find at the dentist! He is a tough cookie and just think how much better those numbers are going to look on his SS when he get's back!

Be sure to take your sunglasses when you go to pick him up so you are not blinded by the dazzling shine

Awww, I know that feeling on dental day...Those sad, sad, eyes when they get their test and then run out to the feeding spot and no dish filled with food to be seen. I know, I know..... :YMSIGH: But it will be well worth it in the long run as you know deep down inside so yes, toughen up! Raja is one smart cookie, lol. None of my guys are aloud to eat on Spot's dental morning until he is out of the house. I usually fix their dishes and put them away so they can't see them, get Spot in his carrier, take him outside, then go back in and feed everyone.

Yo, Shadow, my man....I hear that you are going to the vettiebean to get them choppers all polished up...good luck there buddy! I was just at the vettiebeans a month ago...got three of my teefies pulled out...boy oh boy, was I wasted when I got home!! All I could do was sleep and lay around for a day and a half! Good luck Pat! I hope all goes well for Shadow. Nice that you got a good amps this morning. Phew on that one. I have to do what Deb does too - get the cat in the carrier out in the car, and back to feed the rest. You would think that the world was coming to an end for those staying home - late on food - oh the horrors! No worries - Shadow will be fine, and hey - you'll get better numbers for him once it is all done.

Well, that was one silent ride to the vet's. Not one peep out of him! At the last minute he ran under the bed in the guest room. Why? Because that little Raja must have sent out the skeerdy vines since she was first to run under there and hide!!! He followed blindly, not understanding WHY he was hiding but following her just the same! :lol: I managed to grab him and we were off.

I had put out food for Raja which was untouched when I got home. She was still under the bed!!!
What a character she is!

I had a nice talk with the vet tech who will assist the vet during the dental. She recommended the C.E.T. Oral Hygiene Rinse and had some there. That should prove to be an interesting endeavor. I will think about that later! :lol: Blood work was back and the vet will speak to me later about it. Shadow was good to go with the values and Raja needs to be on Clavamox (no doubt Shadow will be too..a fun time in the old town for two weeks...) :o
They will call me later. Now I have to go find Raja and try to calm her a little. Yeah right!

Dear Spot:
I never got good drugs. Just that yucky Clavamox! Last time, they say my teeth are very strong but loaded with plaque. Wonder what will happen this time. Are the drugs wonderful? I would have liked to have some last night and this morning....boy, I am starving! Hope to be able to call you later my friend! There were a lot of strange smells at the vet place. I hate this.

Shadow buddy, I have had 2 dentals in 2 yrs--No big deal, and I was out of it a bit, but got great pain pills and ate a lot when I got home-
It's just that stuff momma bean squirts in my mouth I dont like!!! Heck, I'm a cat, dont they know we dont like banana taste @-) -

Pat Hope by now Shadow is done and you will be picking him up soon...Know how stressful dentals are, but you didnt even give yourself time to worry--Great work!!

Sweet Shadow... I'm sure he will be a brave boy at the vet today.
And you know he will be SO happy to see you when it's time to pick him up.

Give him a little catnip pillow or toy to snuggle with tonight and all will soon be forgotten. Plus he will have clean teeth and sweet breath.

Shadow you teefs iz gonna be so purty when dey are done! I've had 2 dentals in 2 years too. Easy-peasy my friend! Den yur teefs don't hurtz no more.

Pat I have not noticed a jump with his numbers when using them but I do not think I have ever tested them on one of his good days :lol: they are so few, and yes they are large when I at first got them I was kinda worried he might choke but I guess part of the reason they are large is to get them to chew them. He does love them but I use them like every other week but then again he does not have dental issues like Shadow since his first dental was this year and he only had a wee bit of buildup I only had it done in hopes of seeing better numbers after but it made no diff. I would think if you have a cat with dental or gum issues you may have to be more aggressive with what you use. Brushing teeth can really help if Shadow would let you do it with the CET toothpaste. I do have a older cat here she is 13 and has to have a dental every year I really have to keep a eye on her teeth.

Hi Pat, was it okay to laugh? Picturing Raja running for cover and taking Shadow with her, cracked me up. Those kitties are so smart.

Positive thoughts for Shadow today. I hope everything goes smoothly and he and his pearly whites are home soon. Are you making him a special dinner? ;-) So funny that he ran under the bed because Raja did. Cute brother.

Didn't both kitties just have dentals done not long ago?!?!? Poor Shadow! Sending good luck vibes your way! I will be having the vet check out Morris' teeth when we are there for our yearly check up on Aug 13 & see what her opinion is on the dental situation.

Glad to see he's home. For what it's worth, DH came home with a bottle of that C.E.T. months ago for the drooler, and KB drinks out of that bowl so he gets it to. If you keep using it, check out PetCareRX and 800PetMeds for better prices. (Much better prices.)

Well, I guess my post got lost before...sorry. I wanted to thank you all for your support and well wishes!

He was +9=245
He had a little something to eat and now I am wondering what to shoot for tonight....should I do the regular 1.75u?

He got a shot of penicillin and will not need Clavamox! He did very well for himself...the blood work showed that there was no infection. They both had dentals in early March...but he has a huge plaque buildup all the time. I am supposed to be getting a call from someone to talk to me about the results of his blood work...His Thyroid was fine though!
The C.E.T. is a rinse that you squirt in the mouth. Don't know how THAT is going to go over....

Now...about Raja....she had her first dose of Clavamox this morning and she is not a happy camper. The test from yesterday showed a trace of blood in her urine. 14 days of Clavamlox and if she is still not better (inappropriate urinating) she will need tests for more serious stuff. Please send any healing vines you have available for her. The lab results showed Negative Glucose and Ketones, Blood +2, Not seen were bacteria and crystals. No culture is being done. She is on Amitriptyline 10mg once a day.
She is a very difficult patient when it comes to oral meds. Thankfully, I won't have to chase both of them for the Clavamox drops....but she is going to be a handful for sure!

To my surprise, she went right into the new cube! :lol: Shadow looked like the last kid standing in that horrible game "musical chairs" and after I shot him, I put him down on the other end of the paired cubes....he went right in. So, old cats might not PLAY in it per se, but they can snooze side-by-side in there. :mrgreen: (DH walked in, saw the new contraption and said "What are those?" in his best Ralph Kramden voice... :lol: What a crazy house!
 
Checking in on Raja and Shadow. So glad to hear all went well with Shadow, but Raja WHUT UP WIT DAT? Get better girlfriend!

So glad to see that Shadow did well today and happy he is home and chillaxin. Sorry about Raja, but at least you can get her started on some more meds and hopefully that will take care of her peepee problem. Not sure if you remember but my Civvie Ralph had some problems with I.E. and my vet put him on buspar. He was on it for about three months and so far so good. Of course, I think pulling up the DR carpet helped, because that is where he peed.

Hope tonight is a good night for you and your furries!
 
Glad that Shadow is home and things are getting back to normal. Good luck w/ the rinse, the do get used to it. I'm surprised how well Tess puts up w/ brushing. The key was finding this tiny toothbrush, very soft w/ bristles almost on the end. CET makes it but it is hard to find. The ones you put on your finger are way too big and so are most of the other per tooth brushes. This isn't much bigger than a Q-tip. I do the rinse and brush on alternate days now.

By the way, white vinegar takes the urine smell out, especially if you can wash things. And it works as a fabric softener too.!
 
Use vinegar all the time to wash the floor anyway..many uses...it is a big part of my life! Thanks Ann....
(Just finished my gallon and I need more!) I heard that rubbing alcohol works too. She has been using the tiled floor so that's not a problem. I guess they have to show us some way that they aren't feeling well.
Reminds me of what Jan is going through with Sara....I am hoping that the ABs clear up whatever it is...
 
Pat: Just now visiting condos. I'm glad to hear Shadow's dental went well and that you didn't have to worry about his BG. Sending healing vines for poor Raja and her infection and meds. Did you think about getting the Clavamox pills? They can be ground up and mixed into their food. I don't know how picky she is, but it worked like a charm for Buzz. SO much easier than trying to do the liquid, which I did the first time around. Have a great night! I'll be up on the ledge with you day after tomorrow; we can really live it up up there. :smile:

Glad to hear things went well today! Why is Raja on amitryptaline? I take it myself as a sleep aid! LOL! At least those pills are pretty small! Good luck with all the meds & hopefully Raja will be feeling better soon!
